Irvine, CA, April 25, 2009 -- Basthardt, a Los Angeles-based MMA sportswear company has announced it will formally be re-branded under the name Born Stronger. The change will take place in July at UFC 100 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they will also unveil their new line of MMA sportswear and their new logo.

The Basthardt brand was launched earlier this year by C7-Brands of Irvine, CA. CHUCK LIDDELL FALLS OUT OF WAMMA'S TOP TEN LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT RANKINGS

-- World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -

Philadelphia, PA - The World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) fighter rankings for the month of April debuted on ESPN.com's MMA Live on Thursday. The rankings are now available in their entirety at www.GoWAMMA.com and absent from the top ten light heavyweight rankings for the first time since their inception is former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell.

Liddell was no doubt penalized by WAMMA's pollster group of 30-plus MMA media insiders for losing for the fourth time in his last five fights following his first round TKO loss to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua during last Saturday's UFC 97 event in Montreal, Canada.

"While not unexpected under the circumstances, the concept of Chuck Liddell not being ranked as a top ten light heavyweight is still a little shocking," commented WAMMA interim Chief Operating Officer Sam Caplan. "Liddell has no doubt not fared well recently, but all of his losses were to top competitors. Randy Couture proved he still had what it took to be a top ten contender when he came out of retirement at UFC 68 and defeated Tim Sylvia at age 44. At age 39, I think it's premature to rule out one more run for Liddell."

While Liddell is out in WAMMA's 205 pound rankings, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has returned. Once ranked as high as number two before dropping out of WAMMA's rankings due an inactive period that lasted a year and a half due to multiple knee surgeries. Rua is now currently the fifth best rated heavyweight, according to WAMMA's pollster committee.

"Since coming to the UFC, many pundits have remarked that Rua has not looked like the same fighter he was while in PRIDE," began Caplan, before continuing, "However, we saw some flashes of his former greatness at UFC 97 and if Shogun is truly back then an already deep 205 pound weight class just got even deeper."

Another winner from UFC 97 has also broken into the top ten, as Cheick Kongo debuts in the WAMMA heavyweight rankings at number 10. Kongo improved to 14-4-1 and won his third consecutive fight following his second round TKO victory over Antoni Hardonk.

The fallout from UFC 97 also carried over into WAMMA's middleweight rankings, as Thales Leites' unanimous decision loss to Anderson Silva during the show's main event caused him to fall out of the top ten. In his place, former K-1 HERO's standout Yoshihiro Akiyama returns to the top ten after an extended absence. Akiyama is slated to make his UFC debut on July 11 at UFC 101 against Alan Belcher.

A rankings ascension unrelated to UFC 97 entailed Martin Kampmann debuting as WAMMA's seventh-best rated welterweight this month. Kampmann, a former middleweight, recorded a split decision victory over former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit in a nationally televised main event during UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1.

In spite of the loss, Condit remains in the top ten 170 pound WAMMA rankings, falling from seven to number nine with Dustin Hazelett falling just outside of the top ten.

WAMMA's ranking committee, which is chaired by MMAjunkie.com lead reporter John Morgan, is scheduled to convene again during the middle of the May. The next round of rankings could bring forth change at light heavyweight, with WAMMA's number one rated 205 pound fighter Rashad Evans set to defend his UFC light heavyweight title vs. WAMMA's number two light heavyweight Lyoto Machida at UFC 98 in Las Vegas on May 23.

Muscle Flex Inc. Announces Additional Success In The "In The Raw®" Trademark Dispute With World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) In Canada

-- Muscle Flex Inc.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 20, 2009 - Muscle Flex Inc. (PINKSHEETS: MFLI) announces that it was successful in further defending the "In the Raw®" trademark dispute with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in Canada. The CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office) issued a final decision on June 18, 2008 and found that certain wares listed in the WWE "RAW" trademark application 1,153,018 were confusingly similar and thus lacked distinctiveness from the "In the Raw" registered trademark which MFLI (www.MuscleFlexInc.com) is in the process of completing the acquisition of. The WWE appealed the ruling to Federal Court but failed to file the required documents by the required date. A Notice of Status Review has been issued by the Federal Court on the appeal.

The June 18th, 2008 decision by the CIPO Opposition Board confirmed what was believed in that certain wares listed in the WWE "RAW" trademark application 1,153,018 were confusingly similar (and thus lacked distinctiveness) from the "In the Raw" registered trademark. The registered wares and services for "In the Raw®" in Canada are:

Services:

"Entertainment services, namely the performance of live music concerts; audio and video recording and production services; composition of music for others; public appearances on behalf of others; and endorsement of products and services of others."

Wares:

"pre-recorded audio compact discs, audio cassette tapes and video cassettes; music videos; posters and photographs; key rings; clothing namely hats, caps, cowboy hats, T-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, pajamas, lingerie, jackets and coats; pens; pencils; erasers; flags; pennants; towels; blankets and sheets; license plates; notebooks and notepads; stickers; playing cards; school bags and knapsacks; computer mouse pads and computer screen savers; watches; condoms."

The 23 page ruling dated June 18, 2008 resulted in the World Wrestling Entertainment's Canadian trademark application 1,153,018 for the WWE "Raw" application being denied for the following wares:

"pre-recorded records; pre-recorded audio and visual tapes; pre-recorded video tapes and cassettes, pre-recorded audio-cassettes, pre-recorded tapes; posters; mounted and unmounted photographs; full line of clothing, namely tops, t-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, pullovers, blouses, jackets, coats, trousers, pants, jogging suits, exercise pants, exercise suits, sweatpants, shorts, underwear, boxer shorts, socks, clothing ties, pajamas, belts, gloves, wrist bands, bandannas; headgear, namely hats, caps; stickers; playing cards; mouse pads."

Breaking News: Condition Nutrition Releases Survey On Doping And Extreme Sports

-- Condition Nutrition, Inc.

Condition Nutrition will be releasing a survey on doping in extreme sports on April 20, 2009. Sources show widespread doping in extreme sports, particularly amongst Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) athletes. Unlike other sports, Mixed Martial Arts is not regulated by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Doping in extreme sports is a highly debatable topic that is rarely addressed.

Tampa, FL, April 17, 2009 -- Condition Nutrition would like to announce that we will be posting a survey on April 20, 2009, so individuals can weigh in and post their opinion on doping in Extreme Sports. This survey is one of many that Condition Nutrition will be releasing in the near future to engage their consumers and the fitness community in active debate. Numerous Condition Nutrition customers are active Extreme Sports athletes and doping along with pro-hormone use are two of the most common comments. Joseph A. Sochet, President of Condition Nutrition explains, "we want to be more than just an ecommerce site, we want to be a forum for ideas and opinions in the fitness community." "Once we gather the results of these informal surveys we can then reveal them to the public and promote further discussion." Condition Nutrition expects to post the survey for a week and report their findings within a week of gathering the results.

According to NutraLegacy.com, 91.7% of their MMA respondents admitted to doping and using other performance enhancing drugs. 79.3% of these MMA athletes specifically have used steroids to increase muscle mass and size. These respondents represented approximately 66% of the surveyed population which in total numbered 312 individuals. Other extreme sports athletes included skateboarders, BMX athletes and even extreme skiing. These other athletes were less likely to use steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. Skateboarders represented 16% of the respondents and 18.4% of skateboarders admitted to performance drug us.

Professional athletes taking performance enhancing drugs, or "doping," is a story that has become almost cliche in our society. From baseball players to cyclists it seems that almost every sport has athletes that ultimately get exposed for doping. While these cases are far from rare, most sports abide by the international code set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This code dictates clear regulations regarding the use of any performance enhancing drug in worldwide professional sports. Condition Nutrition has consulted several extreme athletes and we were surprised to learn how pervasive performance enhancing drugs are in extreme sports.
According to numerous sources, such as the one cited above, extreme sports, such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), not only defy the WADA code, but operate independently from it. When 91.7% of surveyed MMA athletes admit to use of performance enhancing drugs one has to wonder how this level of use is tolerated.

Doping in Extreme sports is a controversial issue that is rarely discussed or debated in relation to other worldwide sports. Outside of health and safety, equality and fairness are the issues that seem to get the most attention. While there are some extreme athletes who avoid performance drugs, it becomes increasingly more difficult when your competition has a competitive advantage. One active MMA athlete explained that "in order to compete and win, doping is becomes a must." "They should either make it legal in extreme sports or seriously regulate it." NutraLegacy.com states that of the 312 respondents 162 people added comments suggesting that performance enhancing drugs should be legalized. It is this sentiment that leads many to argue that it should be legalized in particular sports, especially if they are not enforced by WADA as it is.

If enforcing the WADA code becomes more of a problem than a solution, is it even worth enforcing? Some argue that an individual who is willing to participate in extreme sports is inherently risking their health and safety. This is a decision made by an athlete before they decide whether they are willing to compete professionally in any extreme sport. On the other hand, just because these sports can be dangerous doesnt necessarily justify the need for performance enhancing drugs. Instead, many athletes opt to use various sports nutrition products that provide real benefits without the risk involved in drugs. Supplements can help athletes achieve their goals whether it is increased muscle mass, energy or general health. Mr. Sochet believes that "the popularity of Extreme Sports today makes this survey and debate even more popular." This survey is part of Condition Nutrition's overall strategy to increase their media presence and "become a major source of information for the fitness community."

Check out Condition Nutrition and make your voice heard. The information gathered from the informal survey accessible on April 20 and the results will be released in a future news publication. To participate visit Condition Nutrition online at www.conditionnutrition.com.

Results - Bellator Fighting Championships - Saturday, April 10, 2009

-- Joe Burns

Bellator Fighting Championships threw its second show in as many weeks in Uncasville, Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Casino. The card featured former EliteXC feather weight champion, Wilson Reis, taking on Greg Jackson’s trained Henry Martinez in the opening round of Belator’s flyweight tournament. The card included four other tournament bouts and four non-tournament bouts.

EliteXC vet, Matt Makowski, took on Woodstock Ontario’s own Aaron Tregear in a non-tournament bout at 170 pounds. In the early moments of the fight, both men were looking to end the fight early by throwing heavy leather with Tregear landing a good shot. Makowski fires back with a hard liver kick to Tregear’s side. The round ends with both men standing throwing punches.

The second round begins with Tregear coming forward and getting caught with a right hand from Makowski. Tregear returns the favor to Makowski dropping him with a big right hand, but Makowski pops back up to his feet. With Makowski on wobbly legs, Treager smells blood, throwing huge punches and looking to end the fight. Makowski gets dropped again, but Tregear is unable to capitalize and Makowski stands back up. Treager is getting the better of the striking in the round, but Makowski is able to land a number of hard liver kicks leaving a huge bruise on his opponent’s side.

The third round was all Makowski, landing punches to the body of Treager. Makowski’s striking is making it hard for Treager to get in any kind of rhythm for the third round. Makowski ends the round with the hardest body kick of the fight, echoing throughout the arena. The fight goes to the Judges’ score card, and all three Judges see it 29-28 for Makowski.

In a bout that would determine who would fight Eddie Alvarez in the second round of the Bellator’s 155 pound tournament, Eric Reynolds faced off with Thomas Schulte of FIT NHB out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Reynolds comes out firing jabs, backing up Schulte until Schulte shoots in for a double leg and takes mount on Reynolds. From the mount Schulte falls back into an armbar that allows Reynolds to stand and slam out of it. Schulte immediately gets a takedown from a standing Reynolds, and lands in side control. Reynolds starts working a Kamura, but settles for yet another armbar with the same results, that results in Reynolds escaping. The standing Reynolds throws a right hand to the downed Schulte and ending up in the guard. For the third time in the round, Schulte gets another armbar attempt that looks tight. Reynolds slams out of the armbar and unleashes some vicious ground and pound, forcing Ref Kevin Mulhall to step in and stop the bout at 4:18 of the first round. Reynolds will be meeting Alvarez in the second round of the tournament of Bellator’s flyweight tournament

In the main event of the evening, hard hitting Wilson Reis took on Henry Martinez as part of Bellator’s fly weight tournament. In the opening moments of the first round, Martinez shoots in with a lightning fast double leg takedown slamming Reis down. Reis’ Brazilian Jiu Jistu background allows him to quickly sweep Martinez and scramble back to their feet. Both men clinch up and throw knees until the clinch is broken. From there, both men circle and Reis lands a right hand followed up by Martinez shooting in for a double leg takedown. From there, Martinez is quickly swept again from Reis with Reis taking Martinez’s back for close to reminder of the first round. In the final seconds, Martinez is able to escape and lands punches on the downed Reis.

The next two rounds look the same as the first, with takedowns coming from both fighters. Much of the second and third round sees Reis using sweeps to take the back of Martinez, but never being able to sink in the rear naked choke to end the fight. The Judges score’ cards see it as 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 all for Reis earning him the unanimous decision.

Other action from the night includes Jimmie Rivera getting a triangle submission victory over Willie Gates 3:17 into the third round. Mikey Gomez gets the first round T.K.O. victory over Jesse Juarez due to strikes. Omar De La Cruz takes a unanimous decision over Victor Meza. In back and forth action, Aaron Romero gets a unanimous decision over Juarez, Mexico’s product Jorge Ortiz. New England fighter Josh LeBerge takes a unanimous decision victory over Chris Simmons. Finally the crowed favorite Lyman Good overpowers Hector Urbina sinking in the rear naked choke 3:22 into the second round.

United States Fight League "Springfield Massacre" Results

-- Joe Burns

Chris Ramos vs. Aniss Alhajaji

Ramos comes out firing leg kicks for the opening seconds. Alhajaji shoots in with a takedown and ends up in side control. Ramos is able to scramble back to his feet, but again is taken down by Alhajaji. Alhajaji is able to establish side control and starts to strike Ramos. The Ref calls time out and warns Alhajaji for strikes to the back of Ramos’ head. The fight restarts on the feet after and Alhajaji throws a head and misses but is able to get the takedown once again. Alhajaji transitions from takedown to armbar nicely stopping the fight in the first.

Winner Aniss Alhajaji 1st Round Armbar

Kym Sturdivant vs. Adam Sawyer

Both Kym and Adam come out swinging, landing low kicks and punches. After a few moments of striking, both men end up on the ground with Adam in Kym’s half guard. Both men are able to get back to their feet with Kym landing a clean right hand to Adam’s face. Adam drops his hands and gives that “you can’t hurt me” look. Kym then unleashes a hail of punches that forces Adam to tap, due to strikes.

Winner Kym Sturdivant 1st Round Tap due to strikes

Billy Garrett vs. Jose Sanchez

Sanchez comes out throwing punches but Garrett gets the quick takedown with a big slam. Garrett ends up in side control. Sanchez is able to sweep, but Garrett is able to transition from the sweep to Sanchez’s back. Garrett eventually takes the mount of Sanchez. Sanchez goes for a sweep and Garrett sinks in an armbar.

Winner Billy Garrett 1st Round Armbar

Jose Santiago vs. Chris Beaulieu

After the opening moments of both men throwing leather, Beaulieu is able to get a takedown that takes both men out of the ring. The fight is restarted with both men standing with Beaulieu landing a hard leg kick, making Santiago wanting to clinch. From the clinch, Beaulieu gets the takedown and takes the back of Santiago choking him out in the first round.

Winner Chris Beaulieu 1st Round Rear Naked Choke

Barrington Douse vs. Josh Spearman

This is was a back and forth three round battle between two excited fighters. It was a show case for Douse’s striking and Spearman’s takedowns. Douse landed some hard knees, kicks and punches but it never slowed down Spearman one bit. Spearman absorbed all the punishment Douse could dish out and just kept on getting takedowns over the course of three rounds. The ring announcer announces a split decision for Spearman, but after a closer look at the score cards, the split decision goes in favor of Douse. This was the fight of the night, in my opinion.

Winner Barrington Douse Split Decision

Jose Valentin vs. Antwan Penn

Penn and Valentin come out circling, throwing punches and low kicks. Both men clinch and Penn gets a huge throw on Valentin. From his back, Valentin tries a triangle and then transitions into an armbar. Penn throws an invariant low blow and the match is stopped for Valentin to get his breath. When the fight is restarted, Penn lands a huge head kick knock out.

Winner Antwan Penn 1st Round K.O.

Josh LaBerge vs. Frank Latina

This fight was a back and forth fight, seeing both fighters landing punches, kicks and takedowns throughout the three rounds of this fight. It saw both fighters working in each others’ guards and sweeping out of them. The judges gave the decision to Josh LaBerge over Latina bringing his record to four and four.

Amateur Results

Darren Oliver over Anthony Florio 1st Round T.K.O.

Jessy Costley over Brian Snook 1st Round T.K.O.

David Speekman over Adam Harsip 3rd Round T.K.O.

Jimmy Davidson over Nate Hicks Unanimous Decision
