NEW YORK (Aug. 13, 2007) – Coming off a highly successful, well-received debut on July 27, Showtime Networks Inc. and Mixed Martial Arts organization EliteXC are proud to announce the second installment of ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series live on SHOWTIME Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) at Vicksburg Convention Center in Vicksburg, Miss.

The cage main event will feature two of the most talented, colorful and charismatic fighters in MMA, the unpredictable “Krazy Horse” Charles Bennett (18-3-2) of Ocala, Fla., and Victor “Joe Boxer” Valenzuela (5-2-2) of Covina, Calif. in perhaps the most eagerly awaited grudge rematch in MMA history.

There is no love lost between “Krazy Horse” and “Joe Boxer,’’ who fought to a controversial, hotly disputed draw on Aug. 5, 2005. The two-round fight ended with “Krazy Horse” unconscious and flat on his back. The grudge rematch is slated for three, 5-minute sessions, as are all the televised fights.

“These fighters have been stewing to get at each other for two years,” said Gary Shaw, EliteXC Live Events President. “When their scheduled June 22 bout was postponed due to extenuating circumstances, the anticipation only grew larger. Both men guarantee that the bout will not go the distance, and I guarantee it will be a match you won’t want to miss.”

In the first-ever fight on network premium television (SHOWTIME), “Krazy Horse” registered a shocking, spectacular, jaw-breaking, first-round knockout over KJ Noons on Feb. 10, 2007, at Southaven, Mass. It was a performance that transformed “Krazy Horse” into an instant MMA superstar.

“Joe Boxer’’ was upset in his last start, losing to the-then streaking Edson Berto, who was a late substitute for “Krazy Horse,’’ on June 22 at San Jose, Calif.
In one of the top Aug. 25 televised bouts, crowd-pleasing, aggressive-minded middleweight champion Jaime Jara (16-4), of North Highlands, Calif., will face hard-hitting Seth “The Dr” Kleinbeck (7-3), of Stuttgart, Ark.

Jara won a brawl in his last start, registering an exciting first-round knockout over Jeremiah Metcalf (5-3) in the premiere of ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series on July 27 at Santa Ynez, Calif.

In a thrilling match that featured numerous non-stop exchanges, Jara caught Metcalf with a punishing, picturesque left hook that dropped him shortly before the fight was stopped at 4:15.

Kleinbeck, who is coming off a second-round TKO over Sam Spengler on the June 22 “Shamrock Vs. Baroni” undercard at San Jose, Calif., might be the most educated MMA fighter in its history.

He holds a medical degree from the University Of Arkansas College Of Medicine, but don't let the higher education fool you. The doc can smack. All his victories have come inside the distance.

In other scheduled ShoXC fights: Tony Bonello (15-0) vs. Jon Murphy (11-2) at 265 pounds; Ray Lazama (8-5) vs. Hector Urbina (8-3) at 205 pounds; and Umar Luv (4-1) vs. Brandon Tierney (5-0) at 185 pounds.

ShoXC, which received rave debuts for its premiere episode on July 27, will feature fighters from all over the world. The Aug. 25 fights will take place in a cage.

MMA fights on other ShoXC telecasts may take place in a cage or a ring.

EliteXC announcer Mauro Ranallo will handle play-by-play for ShoXC with highly regarded color analyst Stephen Quadros, The Fight Professor, at his side. The executive producer of ShoXC is David Dinkins, Jr. with Richard Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing.
