Also, you will see footage of a situation between AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Brian Logan and Ricky Morton that went down a few weeks ago in Johnson City, TN.

Down South Hardcore Wrestling results from Brunswick, GA, on August 30: Attendance was roughly 85; lively the entire time. J Biggs defeated E-Dawg in 6:22. Not a bad opener here. Henry defeated The Jerk in 4:12. Henry entertained the crowd with his Eugene-esque gimmick, complete with green mask and stuffed dinosaur. "The Asian Sex Symbol" Lance Alonte & Justin Taylor defeated "The Top Story" Morgan Davis & "Punk's Not Dead" Less Fortunant in 8:34. A well-executed match that kept the crowd entralled the entire time. "The Savage One" Ryan Savage defeated Taurus in 5:19. Taurus took some vicious bumps in this one. DSHW Tag Team Championship: The Strong Style Disciples (Morbid Angel & T-Money) defeated Frizza & Mr. Dumpling in 7:13. Jack Manley defeated Dagon Briggs (w/Se7en) in a tight, athletic affair in 9:29. "Shooter" Vordell Walker defeated "Marvelous" Matt Mercer in 11:34. This was a stiff match that had the most crowd heat due to Mercer's heeling. DSHW Light Heavyweight Championship: Dallas Riley defeated Ash Kristiansen and Remy Marcel in 10:12. A solid three-way that really could've gone in any direction. Plenty of high spots, near falls and intensity without being overkill. DSHW Heavyweight Championship: Cameron Larue defeated "Modern-Day Cowboy" in 7:33 to retain the title. This match was a fast-paced, technical encounter until the referee was accidentally knocked down. Morbid Angel of the SSD clocked Chris Anthony from behind with his title belt, then draped Larue's arm over him for the pin. From here all hell broke loose. Taurus attacked Larue from behind, which caused several members of the locker room to come out. Several months ago, Taurus made plenty of disparaging shoot comments towards said locker room members, and they saw it as the perfect opportunity to dish out a receipt in the form of a savage, realistic beatdown. Meanwhile, Anthony came to and immediately called out Morbid Angel. When Morbid didn't respond, Anthony dragged him from the locker room to the ring and proceeded to give him a severe beating until T-Money made the save. DSHW announced that their next show is September 27 at Sam's Memorial Multiplex in Darien, GA.

Results from the 7th annual Dragon*Con wrestling show Friday night in Atlanta, GA, are as follows: Ace Rockwell over Adrian Hawkins and Sal Rinauro and Chip Day to win the singles belt, Slim J beat Scotty Beach, Shadow Jackson beat Brodie Chase, Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews) beat Talent & Money (JT Talent & Drew Pendleton) in a TLC match for the tag team cup, Todd Sexton & Murder One beat the Technicians (Bob E & Tyler Smith), Gail Kim beat Christy Hemme and Traci Brooks, Simon Sermon beat ?, Truitt Fields defeated Simon Sermon, Consequences Creed beat Johnny Devine,(with Vanessa Harding) and Shatter & Kimo & Mikal Judas (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Devil's Rejects (Azrael & Shaun Tempers & Iceberg with the Reverend & Crystal). Virgil and Vanessa Harding were there and inducted into the DC Hall of Fame. Crowd estimated at 400-500.

Prime Time Pro Wrestling results from August 29 in Columbus, GA, at the Event Center with a reported attendance of 150: Elix Skipper beat #1 Contender Chick Donovan by submission to earn a title shot against Colt Derringer next week. After the match, Chris Stevens came to the ring raving mad because he should be the #1 contender. Then, Deathrow came out with J.P. Money to claim rights to #1 contendership. Rob Adonis beat Frankie Valentine. They came out as tag team partners but before their opponents could enter the ring, Adonis turned on Valentine and it became a singles match with Adonis basically slaughtering Valentine. Jake Slater over Dustin Powers. Southside Trash beat Thomas Britain & David Tate. Britain got Tate as a sub for Simon Sermon, who could not make it because of five flat tires. Britain turned on Tate and bailed on the match resulting in a win for SST. Britain was still carrying the belts that he stole from the Trash last week. Bulldog Raines over PAIN. Colt Derringer & Deathrow (with J.P. Money) vs. Chris Stevens & David Young ended as a double DQ. Stevens introduced The Wrestler as his mystery partner, but he was only there to check Money. The real mystery partner was Young, so the Bad Company from Georgia Championship Wrestling of Stevens, Young and The Wrestler have been reunited.

Funk's Corner - Killer Kowalski - His "Stomp To The Face" Didn't Hurt At All

Courtesy of Dory Funk Jr.:

In 1952, wrestling magazines were as important to professional wrestling as television. As a 10 year old kid I living on Dory Funk Sr.'s Flying Mare Ranch in Umbarger, Texas we had no wrestling on television. My main source of information was the wrestling magazines published in New York.

I was shocked when I read the front page of Wrestling Review and saw a picture of Killer Kowalski and Yukon Eric. The headline read, Killer Kowalski kicks off Yukon Eric's ear.

Kowalski was 6' 6" tall and looked like the most amazing athlete I had ever seen. I could imagine Kowalski's boot coming down on Yukon Eric's ear and knocking it right off his head. Killer Kowalski was the top heel in the country at the time.

Twelve years later, my father received a call from Jim Barnett, Wrestling Promoter in Sydney Australia asking if I would be interested in coming to Australia for three months. As I got off a Quantas Airlines 707 at Sydney International Airport people were talking about professional wrestling on television and "Bad Guy" Killer Kowalski.

They told me of an interview on a national TV show where the host asked Killer Kowalski if it hurt when he stomped his opponent in the face with his size 16 wrestling boot. Killer replied, "No it doesn't hurt at all. I wear special thick soles and it doesn't hurt my foot at all."

The value of a professional wrestler to a promotion is his box office appeal. My first match was in Sydney Stadium, only a short walk from our hotel in Kings Cross. Sydney Stadium held 17,000 people and it was packed to the rafters for the main event, Killer Kowalski against Tex McKenzie. That same week Killer Kowalski and Tex McKenzie sold out Melbourne's Festival Hall, 12,000 fans, Perth Australia's National Stadium 25,000 people and Brisbane sold out to the tune of 8,000 people. Killer Kowalski was the biggest star in one of the best territories in the world, Australia.

We worked five days a week and traveled first class from one end of the country to the other. Killer Kowalski was the top heel for Jim Barnett's Promotion. First class is the best way to describe Killer Kowalski as a person. It was such a thrill on the end of the tour to have the opportunity to wrestle the person I had been so impressed with as a child.

Killer Kowalski was a dear friend of Marti and I.

We will miss him.

Our condolences to his family.

Funk's Corner - Dare Devil Workers

Courtesy of Dory Funk Jr.:

Once in a while a "Dare Devil" style worker comes along in professional wrestling. They are spectacular to watch perform because every time out their goal is to give something to amaze the wrestling fans.

Such is the case with All Japan Pro Wrestling's Great Muta who thrilled wrestling fans here in America in the glory days of Ted Turner's Super Station and World Championship Wrestling. Tiger Mask (Satoru Seyama) and Dynamite Kid gave Japan some of the most spectacular wrestling matches ever.

One of my students from the WWE Funking Dojo, Jeff Hardy currently thrills wrestling fans with his high risk moves including a Swanton Bomb from the top rope, top of a ladder, off the stage, off a cage or any other high altitude perch.

Dare Devil work here in America began with Leapin' Larry Chene in the fifties with his high flying moves and "Death Walk" from the ring apron down to the floor.

Here at the Funking Conservatory we are blessed with an athlete who thrills our wrestling fans with creativity and an Evil Knevel Dare Devil style of reckless abandon.

His name is Blain Rage one of many of our Funking Conservatory Athletes who will be looked at closely by All Japan Pro Wrestling's Osamu Nishimura when he comes to the Funking Conservatory Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th to scout wrestling talent for his company in Japan.

Now on our website at http://www.dory-funk.com Blain Rage does a 450 splash from the top of a steel cage.

IMMAE Announces New Licensing Model And Unveils Plans For Its Global Exposition Network

Courtesy of IMMAE Media:

Huntington Beach, CA, 08/28/2008 - IMMAE announced today that it will be launching an ambitious licensing program designed to project Mixed Martial Arts Expos across the globe and propel the IMMAE brand to household name status. IMMAE has created a unique annual event which allows fans, MMA companies, fighters, and industry professionals to converge in a single weekend under one roof. The resulting synergy, networking and individual interaction has made the event legendary in the Mixed Martial Arts industry. This has led to a near global demand for these types of events and IMMAE has taken the bold step to rise to the occasion.

IMMAE recognizes that for many people walking through the door of one of its expos, this may be their first experience with Mixed Martial Arts. This gives IMMAE the important responsibility of presenting the sport to the public and providing the proper education on its nature and history. IMMAE events provide this to the public in the Southern California market, but will now expand beyond this geographic region onto the world stage.

In the new landscape envisioned by IMMAE, expos could be held in virtually every community in North America. Each exposition will be rated for size, exposure and purpose. On one end of the spectrum IMMAE will produce community and city level events designed to draw in exhibitors, fighters and fans from local geographic markets. The core purpose of these shows will be to intimately introduce the fastest growing sport in history into that particular community. IMMAE plans to produce these community level events across North America in an effort to help further penetrate Mixed Martial Arts into mainstream America.

IMMAE will also produce state level and regional shows. These shows will be larger in production and attendance than community level shows and will be designed to promote the sport of MMA on a much larger scale. The largest show will remain the annual event currently held in Southern California. This event will remain annual avoid to void market saturation and will be engineered to draw in exhibitors and fans from around the world.

IMMAE is announcing its first state level exposition through its licensee network. June 26th, 27th, and 28th 2009 marks the first state level exposition to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii. The event is being held at the Blaisdale Exposition Center in downtown Honolulu and is being produced in conjunction with Evolution Sports. The purpose of the event is to promote awareness for MMA at a state level as well as to promote networking and synergy between Hawaii based MMA businesses. The event also promises to be a bridge between the mainland MMA community and its Hawaii based counterpart. The event will feature up to 120 booth spaces, a grappling tournament, and amateur MMA events.

IMMAE is also announcing its first community level exposition through its licensee network. October 11th and 12th 2008 will mark the first community level exposition, to be held in Chandler, Arizona. The event is being held at the Rawhide Rodeo & Fairgrounds and is designed to promote awareness of Mixed Martial Arts in the Chandler Community. The event is being produced in conjunction with Apocolypse Productions based out of Chandler, and was formerly called SWMMAE. The event will feature up to 50 booths, 3 cages, a grappling tournament, and various amateur MMA events. The weigh-in will be held at Cooperstown in Phoenix AZ on October 10th at 7pm and will be hosted by the famous rocker Alice Cooper. You can expect to see Houston Alexander, Mikey Burnett, Edwin Dewees, Rick Rufus, Jamie Varner and many more professional MMA fighters. There will be professional seminars hosted by top MMA fighters across the two day event.

RESULTS: PTW Summer Tour FINAL NIGHT - 27/08/08 - Kent!

Courtesy of Power Trip Wrestling:

Oh what a night! WHAT a night! We had surprises, we had shocks, we had a loud and rowdy crowd that once again included PTW fan and BBC EastEnders acting star Jay Borthwick.....and in true PTW style, we had the volume turned right up! No-one will ever forget the last night of PTW's Summer Tour 2008!

* The show started with a typically confident (read: arrogant) Peter Staniforth coming out, and saying that he was so sick of the abuse from the fans; whilst he'd been through personal bodyguards in the past, his new one was the real deal. With said bodyguard standing very tall at 6'3 and 320lbs, with what we have discovered is a legimately rather dubious past; it was and is clear that Peter has finally found someone that when his infamous outspokeness and temper steps a little too far (as ever!), he can rely on to bail him out of trouble. He may be currently nameless....but he's also downright frightening! Peter called EWF promoter John Copping into the ring, and the two went at it verbally, as Peter stated that John's biggest mistake "was giving me time to go into my address book and telephone, and call in some favours." Peter made reference to having brought along one or two people that could quite easily be described as "lunatics, monsters, and borderline psychopaths," and introduced Team PTW to the ring.

*Side Note: Team PTW - PTW Heavyweight Champion Mayhem, Adam Steel, Mean N' Green (Anton Green & Maverick), G, Wolverine X & Omer Ibrahim (from Riot Act Wrestling), Mason Storm, Dragonian, Mr Portugal, and Blaze and Luke Axle. On a managerial standpoint, "100 %" Dan Edge was there; and from an 'added security' standpoint (possibly just for Peter's own amusement), a shock saw the man most known for his time in 1PW, the monster known as Donny Bull was also present!

* John Copping introduced Team EWF to the fans clapping and cheers. Team EWF - EWF Heavyweight Champion Marcus Brash, Bill Duffy, Will Davison, Glamour, Captain TNT, Robbie Sincaide, Diavolo, James Dahmer, and Leapfrog. Verbal taunts were flying back and forth between both sides, the ring was filled with wrestlers who were clearly dying to get their hands on each other and fight, the crowd couldn't wait to see it kick off....It was time to start! But....

* PTW's ring announcer said he had a 'surprise' for Peter Staniforth, and mentioned the name of 'Seaside' Kevin Carter. Peter just laughed evilly, and looked at his bodyguard and said "Want to know why he's not here?! It's because we left Kevin broken and battered and washed up on the beach somewhere!". Clearly, they hadn't got the job done and somewhere Kevin would have been laughing; as a CD was played as a 'message' to Peter from Kevin Carter, and the song 'Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside' played out loud. Peter stormed off in a temper, and the show began!

* Match One: Will Davison (EWF) defeated Mr Portugal (PTW). This gave EWF a 1-0 lead.

* Match Two: In a handicap match, Mean N' Green (PTW) defeated Bill Duffy. This made things all square at 1-1, a win for each company.

* PTW's ring announcer, referred affectionately to by fans and even wrestlers alike as "Angry Kid"; decided to pledge his allegiance to Team EWF for the evening!

* Match Three: In a Hair vs Hair match, Captain TNT (EWF) defeated Dragonian (PTW), and shaved his hair outside the ring! It was now 2-1 to the EWF.

* Match Four: Leapfrog & Glamour (EWF) defeated Blaze & Luke Axle. So as we went to the interval, shockingly, EWF were taking a 3-1 lead over PTW.

* Match Five: G (PTW) defeated Robby Sincaide (EWF), and it became 3-2 to EWF. Tempers were getting frayed, and nerves were clearly showing, especially on PTW's side. Peter Staniforth (admitting a drink or two, to think clearer) and Dan Edge, came out to ringside; and Peter pointed out the history between Dan and himself. He then said to John Copping that leading into the next match, John should be a very worried man; because it was just him and him alone, and for the first time ever in PTW tonight, Peter and Dan were entirely on the same page and that when "two evil genius's are on the same side, you know you're in trouble."

* Match Six: In a Champion vs Champion match, Mayhem (PTW) defeated Marcus Brash (EWF). Don't read this as a clean victory....it took Mayhem, Dan Edge, and the monstrous Donny Bull; AND a distracted referee, to defeat the wildly popular Marcus Brash. This made it EWF 3 PTW 3. When an appalled John Copping took Peter Staniforth to task over his blatant lack of morals, Peter just laughed at him and said how he was "teaching the kids in the crowd a lesson, and doing their parents a favour....you now know that it's okay to cheat as long as referee's don't see it, and whatever gets the job done is all that's needed".

* Match Seven: In the deciding Eight Man Tag Team Elimination match, Will Davison took the victory (alongside Bill Duffy, Diavolo, & James Dahmer) for Team EWF; against Team PTW's Adam Steel, Wolverine X, Omer Ibrahim, & Mason Storm. EWF won the challenge 4-3! And this....is where the twist comes in.

* In what many worldwide even, will probably find very hard to believe, as Team EWF and John Copping celebrated to the adoration of the fans in attendance; PTW's ever outspoken Peter Staniforth got in the ring........and shook John Copping's hand. He also shook the hand of every member of Team EWF in the ring (with some unsure but still willing), and graciously accepted defeat as best as his ego would allow. Peter said that he felt it had been "one hell of a night", and that on that night, the better team had won.

* With Team PTW sulking around ringside, Peter stood centre stage and said that with it being the last night of the tour, he had something to say. We'll attempt to recap as much as we can from what is certainly one of the most emotional moments PTW has ever seen....

"When I was approached by Sharon and the owners of this campsite to bring PTW here, I was proud, but I was also nervous. You welcomed us in here with open arms, and you made us all feel at home. You've given us six of the best weeks of our life, and I hope we've given you the entertainment you people deserve. I'll never ever forget how you all sang 'Happy Birthday' to me unprompted and unplanned on the first night of this tour. and it will always be a special moment in my heart. It's been a summer I can genuinely say will always mean the world to me, and all the boys; and I can only say thank you. Thank you to John Copping and his EWF wrestlers, thank you to Sharon and the owners of this campsite for having us, thank you to my fiancee' Chrissie and her sister Jennie on the merchandise table, thank you to my parents and my son Andrew and daughter Victoria, and thank you to you fans. You guys are really incredible, and PTW is nothing without you. Some wrestling shows say it and don't mean it, some wrestling shows don't even have enough class to say it at all; but for our faults - we're also as upfront as it gets, and we appreciate every single one of you coming out and supporting us. All I can do is stand here, hand on heart, and say we love you too."

* The crowd cheered loudly in response to that, Team EWF had a bit of a dance in the ring to celebrate their victory; and one of the campsite owners took the microphone, and thanked everyone on the shows for their involvement. We leave you with the question he asked the fans - "Do you want to see PTW come back again in the future?"....and the crowd screamed their approval.

* So PTW's Summer Tour 2008 ended on a positive note, and we thank everyone involved for their time in the last six weeks. PTW now return back home, with their reputation as Bedfordshire's best wrestling show very safely intact. There may be one or two others in the area, but PTW is the promotion that they don't want you to see, because once you've sampled PTW's fun loving spirit; you won't want to be anywhere else! We should have BIG news on upcoming PTW shows in Bedfordshire and further afield in the very near future, so keep checking out www.powertripwrestling.co.uk for all the latest information!
