Detailed Results Blood Sweat and Ears: Devil's Night 2007

The spirits rose as all hallows eve was upon us, and Blood Sweat and Ears brought the nightmares and screams to the Raxx Entertainment Complex on Sunday October 28th.

To start the show, Ash came out to address the fans and management of BSE. All in attendance were shocked to find out that Ash has decided to sue BSE and has enlisted the help of colour commentator and apparent legal aficionado "Bloodthirsty" Bob Kapur! Kapur and his new client have asked for a one on one match with Don Payson at Xtreme Xmas on Dec 9th.

Ash will put up his career vs. Don Payson's Adrenaline Cup in a Last Man Standing Match. If Payson accepts, then the lawsuit against BSE will be dropped.

BSE awaits a response from Don Payson.

The show was kicked off by the first Battle Royal in BSE history. The Lucky 13 Battle Royal. This match featured BSE starts such as Big Brian Youngblood, Sebastian Suave, Anton Arakis, Pierre Shadows, TNA X Division Champion Black Machismo Jay Lethal, Bang Bang Pete and more. "Au Natural" Kelly Couture shocked the world by eliminating Vane of the Blackouts to gain the victory.

The Blackouts took it personally and were about to put away Kelly with their signature move, "Light's Out" When Black Machismo Jay Lethal made the save. The Blackouts issued a challenge to Lethal to find a partner and battle them in a tag match later in the evening. Lethal kept the surprises coming by choosing Kelly as his tag team partner!

The next match of the evening saw Former BSE tag team champions the Suicide Kidz battled a team on the rise in the All Starters. Two teams hoping to fight towards a title match in the tag team division put it all on the line. In the end, the Suicide Kidz were upset as a double pin led to an All Starters victory!

The next contest had Kobra Kai facing off against a man who after a two and half year absence made his return to BSE, Dangerboy Derek Wylde. The styles were matched and the ground game took over as both men battled to a 15 minute draw

The heavily bandaged Revoluchas challenged the tag team champs TNT to a 2 out of 3 falls match. The Revoluchas decided to attempt to beat TNT at their own game by adding a No Disqualification stipulation to the contest. The Revoluchas won the first fall and remained inches away from the tag titles for the rest of the bout.
The match saw tables, chairs, blood, broken bones and the fight being taken all around the building. after a series of near falls going both ways, the Tag champs Dux and Tornado retained the title by winning the next two falls. A match of the year candidate for certain!

Up next, the unimaginable tag team of Kelly Couture and TNA X Division Champ "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal were victorious over the Blackouts.

In the Main Event The "Vanilla Killa" James Champagne teamed up with Ash to battle their respective nemesis' Kris Chambers and Six Pack Champ Frankie the Mobster.

Referee Dave Linton was taken out of the match which seemingly unexplained brought out the Blackouts to attack Frankie. This brought out Kobra Kai to even the odds. When out of nowhere, Kai attacked Frankie bringing the Blackouts in to make it a 3 on 1 beatdown of the Six Pack Champ. James Champagne pinned Frankie after the annihilation of the champ.

Is there a new powerhouse group in BSE? Will Ash get his A Cup challenge? What is next for the Suicide Kidz after a devastating loss? Where will the "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels fit into the mix?

Many new questions have be asked and hopefully all will be answered at the third annual BSE Xtreme Xmas on December 9th at the RAXX Entertainment Complex.

The following was released by the AWA yesterday over the PR Newswire: “In a landmark announcement made today, AWA Chairman of the Board Dale R. Gagne announced that the American Wrestling Association (AWA) will no longer sanction independent territories effective immediately. Over three years ago, the AWA started an "open door policy" welcoming top independent wrestling organizations to represent it's brand both nationally and internationally. Within a year, the AWA had gained momentum with over 25 affiliate promotions from Hawaii to Japan. During the recent AWA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gagne and Vice-President Jon Stewart addressed representatives from participating territories regarding the impending future of the sanctioning program. "Quite honestly", stated Gagne, "the sanctioning of independent territories never reached the success we had hoped for". "We never intended on our brand being represented in bars, out-of-date military bases or American Legion halls", continued Gagne. "There may very well be a market for independent wrestling in these types of facilities but it certainly isn't a part of the AWA's future". Vice-President Jon Stewart further stated that the AWA will continue to look for effective and professional promoters to represent it's brand but there will be obvious differences in what local organizations present and what the AWA will produce. Where does this leave the territories currently representing the AWA brand? According to Gagne and Stewart, each promotion will be individually assessed. Those territories sharing a vision different than the AWA's new model, will be released by the end of the year. The Board of Directors and figurehead President will be dissolved accordingly. For updates on this developing story, go to www.awastars.com.” It is unclear at this time exactly what is going on and how it may affect the local AWA affiliate World-1 South, but we have reached out to Dale Gagner of the AWA and Jody Peterman of World-1 South, for comment. We have not yet received a response. As soon as we know how this may affect the local scene, we will report it here.

AWA World-1 South took a hiatus the second half of 2007. However, they are preparing a comeback that will begin with a fundraising event on December 22 at the Oconee Gym in Dublin, GA, for the Dublin Tipoff Club. They will also return to Cordele on January 19 and Valdosta on January 20, with both days featuring the third annual Old Scholl Tag Team Tournament. Call (866) 244-0104 for more info. Advertised for Dublin: The Heartbreak Express defend the AWA World Tag Team Title versus K.I. Elite (Shawn Hunter & Jake Slater); and Francisco Ciatso will defend the World-1 South Southern Heavyweight Title versus Dave Holiday. Mike Stratus is also scheduled to appear. Teams scheduled thus far for the tournament in Cordele and Valdosta: the Nightmare & the Masked Superstar; Blackout (Rainman & Murder One); the World’s Prettiest Tag Team (Adrian Hawkins & Seth Delay); Bad Company (David Young & Chris Stevens); and Ricky Landell & Mr. Wrestling #3.

In a message to us from Southern States Championship Wrestling: “We are pleased to announce the birth of Southern States Championship Wrestling. We recently took over GWA (Georgia Wrestling Alliance). We plan on taking on a larger territory and also plan on producing a weekly web show on our Internet site. All of this should take place after the first of the year.”

NOTES

Georgia Wrestling History would like to wish a happy 43rd birthday today to the Boogeyman. We would also like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. How ironic that the Boogeyman would have a birthday on Halloween.

FCW 10/30 Results: 3rd Generation Championship Match!

Courtesy of Alan J. Wojcik:

On Tuesday October 30, 2007 Florida Championship Wrestling held their weekly event at Bourbon Street Night Club, 4331 US 19N in New Port Richey, FL.

(1) Mariousz Jablonski defeated Hade Vansen.

Vansen went right to work with European forearms and kicks to Jablonski’s head but got taken to the mat with an armdrag. Jablonski kept on Vansen’s left arm even as Vansen hit chest chops and knees to the gut. Jablonski’s attack kept Vansen slowed down and got two with an exploder suplex. But the attack was stopped with a Vansen Hot Shot and a flying clothesline for two that got the crowd booing. Vansen hit a running knee to the corner but his next move was stopped by a Jablonski dropkick which sent both men fighting to their feet. They both got up and began a chest chopping contest which was stopped by a Jablonski belly to belly suplex and a superkick to win the match.

(2) “Handsome” Heath Miller & “the Carnival Freak” Sinn Bowdee defeated Johnny Curtis & Robert Anthony.

Before the match Miller thanked the ladies for their admiration but he nearly got his ass kicked by his own partner for calling the team “Beauty & the Beast” with the Beast being Bowdee. Curtis and Anthony did their talking with wrestling moves that kept Bowdee and Miller on the defensive for several minutes. That momentum was brought to a crashing halt when Anthony took his focus off Miller and went to the floor after Bowdee. When Anthony tried to come off the top Miller dropkicked him off making Anthony fall to the mat out of control. Bowdee and Miller did their worst to Anthony but it wasn’t good enough as Bowdee missed a corner move and it allowed Curtis to tag into the match. Things broke down as Anthony stopped his partner from being pinned and helped Curtis get Miller for two but Miller countered the pin into a double leg pin with the possibility of tights being pulled.

(3) “Bad Seed” Shawn Osborne defeated Kevin Kiley.

Osborne came dressed in his Halloween costume, a priest and he mocked his opponent who was debuting in FCW after being a referee for several weeks. The mocking continued in the opening minutes of the match as Osborne took Kiley to the mat. But Kiley hit Osborne with an armdrag and two slams which sent Osborne to the floor. Osborne returned to the ring and the games were over with forearms and slaps to Kiley’s face. Kiley fought back with shots of his own but was defeated by a Rude Awakening.

(4) In a mixed tag match, Kofi Kingston & Brianna of the Bella Twins (w/Nicole) defeated Sheamus O’Shaunessy & Victoria Crawford.

I think this match was sponsored by Walt Disney World with Crawford dressed like Pocahontas and the Bella’s dressed in Alice in Wonderland outfits. Kingston and O’Shaunessy started the match as Victoria attacked Brianna but the referee was able to get some order. Kingston controlled the match with his speed and a flying head scissor sent SOS to the floor to rethink things. He decided to tag in Crawford who squared off with Brianna actually she ran to her corner and tagged SOS right back in. SOS tried to use his power but got hit with a Kingston dropkick. We were witness to the first FCW chicken fight which saw Brianna smack Crawford and Nicole sneak in and undercut SOS. But SOS recovered and went on the attack hitting Kingston with a series of power moves with some aid from Crawford’s choke holds. Crawford felt she could hang with Kingston so she tagged in and hit a slap to the face but the second one was stopped by Kingston who tossed Crawford to the corner where Brianna was waiting to fight. All four competitors in and out of the ring but it was Brianna who got Crawford’s shoulders to the mat with a double leg pin.

(5) “Stampede Kid” TJ Wilson defeated Jake Hager via DQ.

Despite being outsized, Wilson went hold for hold with Hager keeping his taller opponent grounded with an attack to the left arm. Hager kept trying to get a waistlock takeover on Wilson but Wilson fought back with holds of his own which frustrated Hager to no end. Hager thought he escaped a pin but Wilson was waiting with a spinning heel kick which sent Hager heading to the locker room. Wilson went after him and that was a mistake as Hager grabbed him and drove Wilson’s face into the ringpost. Once back in the ring Hager went to the power moves including a standing suplex for two. Hager went for a chinlock submission hold but Wilson escaped and got two with a sunset flip but Hager got to his feet fist and hit a gutwrench suplex for two. Hager went back to the head with a neck vise like submission hold but Wilson escaped from that too and fought out of a power move into a crucifix for two. Hager tried to recover from the hold as Wilson hit him with a series of kicks. But Hager ducked one and tried to sneak in a crotch shot thinking the referee was blocked by the bodies. He wasn’t and the referee called for bell for the blatant illegal move.

“The Professional” Mike Mondo & “The Natural” Nick Nemeth made their way to the ring and reminded the fans that they were the two top wrestlers in FCW. They issued an open challenge to anyone in the locker room and it was answered by two of the FCW powerhouses Steve Lewington and Rycklon.

(6) “The Professional” Mike Mondo & “The Natural” Nick Nemeth defeated Rycklon & Steve Lewington.

Immediately Nemeth and Mondo realized they had bitten off way more than they could chew as Rycklon and Lewington showed their tremendous strength advantage. After getting their butts kicked for several minutes Nemeth and Mondo isolated Lewington with a cross armbreaker. Nemeth and Mondo made several tags taking time dissecting the injured arm and upper body as Rycklon could only cheer his partner on. The good news was Nemeth and Mondo did some damage the bad news was nothing they did got Lewington’s shoulders down for three nor did it get him to submit. They made a tactical error in their corner with a missed double team move and it allowed Rycklon to tag in and toss Nemeth and Mondo around the ring. But Rycklon was outsmarted when he went to suplex Nemeth into the ring from the ring apron and Mondo tripped Rycklon. This allowed Nemeth to pin Rycklon as Mondo held both of Rycklon’s feet down.

(7) In a 3rd Generation match, Ted DiBiase Jr. defeated FCW Southern Heavyweight champion Afa Jr. via DQ.

DiBiase showed up Afa by dissing a handshake and it allowed Afa to attack from behind. The fight went to the floor where DiBiase fought back driving Afa’s head into the ringpost followed by a slam on the floor. DiBiase tossed Afa back to the ring for a two count pin and some trash talking followed by a dropkick for two. DiBiase went for a back stretch submission but Afa fought to his feet only to be hit in the head which did no damage to the champion. DiBiase got in a gut shot and a pin for two with both feet on the ropes. DiBiase followed with a suplex but his top rope move was stopped by Afa who sent him to the floor. Both men traded chest chops but it was Afa who came back to the ring in control working over DiBiase’s left arm and shoulder with a nerve hold but DiBiase refused to submit and got his foot to the bottom rope causing a break. Afa brought DiBiase to his feet only to send him back down with a superkick for two. Afa went for a move but DiBiase ducked and in avoiding Afa he sent him to the floor. DiBiase waited for Afa and hit him with a stunner on the ropes and a shot to the throat with the bottom rope. Afa countered a corner move but missed a splash and it allowed DiBiase to lock in the Million Dollar Dream. But before Afa could submit the Giant Titan hit the ring and the referee called for the bell. The double team went on until G-Rilla came out to attack Titan as DiBiase locked Afa in the Million Dollar Dream.

After the match DiBiase called out Afa for having someone save his title and demanded a rematch. The FCW Commissioner made a quick ruling and ordered a Texas Tornado Tag Team match for next week with Afa Jr. and Titan taking on Ted DiBiase Jr. and “the Mastodon of Mayhem” G-Rilla! Most CowPalaceFiasco Cks Still Bouncing, Chuck Zito Allows Thieving Promoters Outed On His Nat'l Show

Courtesy of Dr. Mike Lano:

Disclaimer: all the following is what I believe to be true in my heart, and am alleging only

Daily 10/30 Lano update on thieving CALIF "wfanfraudfest" promoters-DA's here now deciding whether to charge the case, issue arrest warrants-again, anyone ripped off: boys, MMA's, boxers, vendors, fans; please contact Daly City Police/DA-Sgt Drexler asap particularly if you received a rubber check(criminal in this state as opposed to our civil action aka class action vs Chris and Jasmin Salisbury(Manteca) and Jay Cohen(even bigger scumbag in Monterey, Marina, CA) at 650-991-8170.

*To date, only the smallest of the checks to just 4 former ECW stars have finally cleared. This after daily checking and remember Salisbury told everyone "don't cash the checks until Monday the 22nd since money's in transit. On Monday, they'll all clear." Of course they didn't but yday the 29th, the 4 small checks(all from a brand new personal cking acct that didn't even have their name or address on it at all) cleared. Odd that Burlingame Police to date have shown 5 different Salisbury personal checks(all bounced) from 5 different printed home addresses in Manteca and Modesto, one with a po box there and then the one with no address whatsoever. None of the larger-amount checks to people like Debiase, Williams, Race, Bockwinkel, etc have gone beyond insuff funds. Many paid daily bad-check fees trying to deposit them they'll never see back.

*Before I forget, yet another alias for scumbag Jay Cohen has been "Jason Jensen" with respect to WFFest, SPUSA.

A majority of names weren't even given cash or bad checks(the only ones who got anything had to threaten violence-the Salisburys and Cohen NEVER offered anyone cash or checks willingly or voluntarily). As with Piper's case when he
and Mitch twice tried to cash their check on 10/19 and early 10/20; he had to "give them an offer they couldn't refuse" and then duressed Salisbury into finally giving him cash. Which makes Piper and Goldberg(paid well in advance) stand up guys for joining our hotel lobby sit-down strike when I called their rooms.

*TNA boys were paid lumpsum to the office but only for the wrestling portion. Most all of them owed money for separately doing the autographs are still unpaid reportedly(confirmed with each and every. The only one I've confirmed as having gotten paid for the separate autograph portion is Buh Buh who wisely demanded Salisbury take care of business early Friday before things got bad later that night at the Cow Palace and the innocent female wrestling person who Chris kept getting numbers from, etc; Chris begged her to go out and calm down the boys. They'd all been in a line demanding their money, but were told "there isn't any money. My (sic) partner didn't come thru. Jasmin will go to the bank tomorrow(Saturday the 20th)." That was more bullshit as most figure she never went anywhere. A few checks were given out to the most vocal but we'd warned them all, from Friday morning on, to demand cash and accept no checks. The one female said "at least If I had a check and it bounced, I could sue and have some recourse since a lot of us didn't sign contracts. We'd at least have some proof. But we were nervous even accepting checks with no name or address on them, and a few digits off according to the fraud person at his bank." And many uncovered an old scam of the Salisburys misspelling their names intentionally, over and over on checks making it harder to collect. Piper nailed Salisbury on trying to pull that scam right away before even cashing check #1 and made him write out another telling Chris "this better not bounce."

Again, the majority of wrestlers who even got checks(many didn't get anything and left SF emptyhanded) have reported they're still ISF and no good.

*Chuck Zito let me on his national Sirius radio show y'day(on H Stern's network/family of related shows) after I emailed him asking if I could "out" the WFanFraud promoters and briefly describe what happened and how anyone from MMA, wrestling owed money should contact the San Mateo and Daly City police and DA's. He's a stand-up guy and still wants to compete in UFC which probably will never happen. He really went after Joe Torre and Guiliani y'day before I ranted.

NOSTALGIA

1939: Tom McCarthy rented the Warren Arena from L.C. Warren. Warren had announced that he was retiring as his business was keeping him too busy to continue promoting wrestling. McCarthy renamed the venue as simply the Sports Arena, and picked up as the Atlanta promoter for Georgia Championship Wrestling.

1941: A card that had been scheduled at the Warren Arena in Atlanta for today was cancelled the day before by Abe Simon, promoter for Georgia Championship Wrestling. Lou Thesz, who had been scheduled to wrestle Rudy Strongberg in the main event, was unable to appear due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

1943: Bill Longson defeated Albert Mills to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Sammy Friedman. Longson had been the reigning champion since he defeated Bobby Managoff in St. Louis, MO, on February 19, 1943. This version was the one recognized by the National Boxing Association as the National Wrestling Association.

1951: Southern Heavyweight Champion Don McIntyre and Lou Plummer wrestled to a draw in a title match at the William Bell Auditorium in Augusta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Tom Mahoney. Both men had won a fall before time expired during the third fall. McIntyre had been the reigning champion since he defeated Art Nelson on September 10, 1951, in Augusta.

1954: Verne Gagne defeated Jerry Graham by disqualification in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones.

1965: Dale Lewis defeated Freddie Blassie in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Lewis had put up $1,000 in the match with Blassie, betting he could not be pinned within the first thirty minutes. Although Blassie lost the match, he managed to open a gash in Lewis’ head that required stitches. The program for this card mentioned that Mario Galento and Dutch Savage were the new Southern Tag Team Champions, but offered no information on how or where they won the claim. The last reference we have shows Nick Kozak & Dick Steinborn defending the title against Savage & Lewis on October 8, 1965, in Atlanta. We also have no documented reports of Galento & Savage defending the titles, with the next reference to it being on April 1, 1966, when the Infernos, managed by J.C. Dykes, defeated Galento & Bobby Shane for the vacant title. The program also featured an advertisement for Nalley Chevrolet, located at 2555 Stewart Avenue, asking you to call referee Charlie Smith for “the best deal”.

1968: Stan & Butcher Vachon defeated Alberto & Ramon Torres to win the Georgia Tag Team Title at the Savannah Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Aaron Newman. The Torres’ had been the reigning champions since they defeated the Vachons on September 20, 1968, in Atlanta.

1971: Buddy Colt defeated George Scott to retain the Georgia Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Colt had been billed as the champion since June 18, 1971. Also, the Assassins defeated Rocket & Flash Monroe to retain the Georgia Tag Team Title.  The Assassins had been billed as champions since August 13, 1971. The Monroes had said they were contemplating leaving if they could not defeat the Assassins, but they remained in the area.

1974: The Fabulous Moolah defeated Susan Green to retain the Women’s World Title at the Macon Coliseum for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Moolah had been billed as champion since she defeated Judy Grable on September 18, 1956, in Baltimore, MD. In the main event, Danny Little Bear defeated Jimmy Garvin in an Indian Strap Match. Garvin was the manager for Ron & Terry Garvin, who lost by disqualification in the semi-main event to Bill Dromo & Mr. Wrestling #2.

1976: Terry Funk defeated Mr. Wrestling #2 to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Funk had been the reigning champion since he defeated Jack Brisco on December 10, 1975.

2005: Erik Watts & Mike Foxx defeated Derrick Neikirk & Mike Knox in the main event at the GCW Sports Arena in Columbus for Great Championship Wrestling.

2005: Slim J defeated Jeff Lewis to win the Anarchy Television Title at the NWA Arena in Cornelia for NWA Anarchy. Also, Mikal Adryan defeated Onyx to retain the Anarchy Heavyweight Title. The main event featured a noose match, with the Urban Assault Squad (Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) defeating Alabama Attitude.

2005: The Outlaws defeated the Axis of Evil to retain the GIWA Tag Team Title at the AG Center in Dublin for the Georgia Independent Wrestling Alliance. Also, Shawn Hunter defeated Sean Logan to win the Mid-State Heavyweight Title.

Tommy Gunn vs. ‘Desirable’ Danny D

The fans show who they support right from the very start with “Tranny D” chants at Danny D (Danny still wears the dress he was forced to wear months earlier) and “Tommy Gunn” chants for Gunn. Lock up, Danny pushes Gunn off. “I don’t hit girls” Gunn retorts, Danny replies with punches that floor Gunn. Danny whips Gunn into the ropes, Gunn ducks the clothesline and returns with a hurracanrana and a head scissors in quick succession. Gunn then low bridges Danny to chants of “Easy” from the AWW fans. The fans continue to rally behind Gunn with chants of “Tommy, Tommy”, Gunn responds with punches and a leg lariat to Danny’s face. A clothesline, drop toe hold and 6-1-9 follow and with a springboard splash Gunn has it won! No it’s only a two count, Danny returns with a vicious clothesline that flips Gunn in the air and sets up for a tombstone piledriver but somehow Gunn reverses into a pin for the 1, 2 and 3.

Match Time: 10 minutes
Winner: Tommy Gunn

My Thoughts:
Good opening match which the AWW fans seemed to enjoy! Gunn and Danny put forth a good display and it transferred into a good match. Gunn has a lot of potential as both a single’s wrestler and tag team wrestler (with Geraden as The Young Gunns), Danny is a good wrestler in his own right and the character works well. I was disappointed that Geraden was missing from the show after The Young Gunns strong showing against Ronin and Derice Coffie last month.

8 Man Battle Royal (For the last spot in Rumble at Aston University)

Mark Clarke vs. Matt Clarke vs. Jekkel vs. El Nacho vs. Lord Graham Thomas vs. Lee Hunter vs. Derice Coffie vs. Nick Knight

This match was fast and furious with action all over the ring! Matt Clarke tries but fails to eliminate Knight, Coffie hit’s a vicious high knee in the corner and then is gorilla pressed and thrown out of the ring by Jekkel!

Derice Coffie has been eliminated.

Jekkel tries to eliminate both Clarke’s but they low bridge him and he too is eliminated.

Jekkel has been eliminated.

LGT quickly eliminates El Nacho

Knight eliminates Matt Clarke shortly after.

Knight is alone with Mark Clarke & Lee Hunter. The fans show their disrespect to Knight by chanting “You fat f***” Knight shows his power advantage by gorilla pressing and the slamming on Clarke, a face wash follows (on both men). Before Knight summoning his Cruiserweight power hits two awe inspiring tumbling splashes on Clarke & Hunter! Knight calls for a power bomb but only receives a step up Enzuguri from Hunter, two double dropkicks follow on Knight and he to is eliminated.

Nick Knight has been eliminated.

Hunter pie faces Clarke leading to both men trading punches, Hunter atomic drops Clarke almost over the top rope. Clarke returns with a leg lariat and a power slam on Clarke, before throwing Hunter but not eliminating him. Hunter replies with a leg lariat of his own and tries to eliminate Clarke. Clarke summons strength and back body drops Hunter over the top rope to win the Battle Royal.

Lee Hunter has been eliminated.

Match Time: 9 minutes
Winner: ‘Star man’ Mark Clarke

My Thoughts:
Well that was chaotic! With so much action going on it was very difficult to keep up with it all, most of the eliminations were blink and you might miss it. All the competitors put forth a good performance especially Nick Knight, Clarke and Hunter showed intensity that I haven’t seen before in the finale between the two. With the match going 9 minutes (for 8 men) it was never going to be a classic, with more time a better match could have happened for sure, with that said this was fun and a different element to the show.

‘The Metro-Sexual’ Danny Devine vs. British Born Steele

Devine attacks BBS before the bell even sounds, BBS rallies and hits a few chops as the fans chant “BBS”. Devine backs off and even pleads with BBS for a sportsman like handshake, BBS asks the crowd and then shakes Devine’s hand. Devine tries to gain an advantage but BBS catches his boot and swings to the ref before kicking Devine’s leg and taking him down to the mat. Devine locks in the Boston Crab but BBS manages to get the escape via a rope break. Devine comes back with a sunset flip for a two count, BBS returns with his finishing move (The back-cracker) but doesn’t have enough left to cover Devine and when he does it’s only a close near fall. BBS shows frustration by pulling Devine’s hair and sets up for a victory roll but Devine reverses and with his feet on the ropes takes the 1, 2 and 3.

Match Time: 10 minutes
Winner: ‘The Metro-Sexual’ Danny Devine

Aftermath:
BBS takes the microphone and asks the referee “What the bloody hell was that” before pushing him down! He continues “It’s been 8 months since I last won a match here” The fans show their disdain with “Who are ya” chants, BBS retorts with “Shut your mouth son”. BBS continues “I was the 1st ever AWW Champion, you should respect me! You fans haven’t helped me regain MY title so I’ll get it myself!”

My Thoughts:
I have to say I was disappointed with this match, because I expected a wrestling clinic based on the superb match Devine and BBS contested last month! Don’t get me wrong it was still a good match, with great story-telling (BBS’s growing frustration, Devine’s cheating and then BBS turning his back on the fans). For me BBS and Devine are two of the best pure wrestlers in the Midlands (If not the entire UK), they could have produced a classic but with a 10 minute time limit they produced a good match which the fans seemed to enjoy! It will be interesting to see where BBS goes from here, and that is something I will be watching intently.

Chained Match (First to touch all 4 Corners, wins the match)
Mad Dog Maxx vs. Dan Ryder

Maxx tells the fans “Ryder’s going down, scumbags!” the fans chant “Mad Dog has rabies” Maxx retorts “Mad Dog doesn’t have rabies, swig your point and watch wrestling!”. The fans start chanting “Ryder, Ryder”, there is a feeling out period to start the match with neither man wanting to make a mistake. Punches are traded with Ryder getting the best of it, ramming Maxx head first into the steel ring post. Ryder follows up with a clothesline and a hurracanrana before he touches 3 out of the 4 Corners, Maxx cuts him off with a chain assisted throat chop. Ryder blocks a clothesline and returns with a couple of his own, following with a 10 punch in the corner and a monkey flip. Ryder follows with a back body drop but misses the resulting 450, both men are down Mad Dog has something in his hand! FIREBALL to Ryder!! Maxx then touches all 4 corners for the win. Maxx then continues the assault and drags Ryder by the chain away.

Match Time: 12 minutes
Winner: Mad Dog Maxx

My Thoughts:
That was a very good match, the best of the night thus far! It was intense, had comedy-esque moments, good wrestling and a truly WOW finish to the match. The fans are a little fickle in AWW, when I lsaw Ryder in April he was the biggest star in the company. The fans went crazy for him, now he’s competing for cheers with Maxx and at times is losing out. I’m slightly fearful for Ryder as the fans seem to be slowly turning their back on him. Maxx was exceptional once more proving that he is a very good wrestler with a great character (The fans seem to love him for the latter). The finish came out of nowhere and brings an even higher level of intensity to the most intense feud of 2007 in AWW.

INTERMISSION

Ronin vs. Carnage

The wrestlers lock up, with Ronin getting the best of it (pushing Carnage down). Second time around neither man budges so they say “Sumo” and in sumo stance try to knock each other down. A test of strength proceeds which Ronin gets the advantage of and with a kick downs Carnage. Carnage rolls out to strategise, and comes back with kicks to Ronin’s leg trying to knot it up. Ronin attempts the 10 punch in the corner but Carnage power bombs him to the mat! Carnage quickly follows up with a leg drop and top rope elbow drop but can only get a two count. Spud enters and spits at Carnage, Ronin hits Carnage with his Singapore Cane and with a big splash it’s over 1, 2, and 3.

Match Time: 9 minutes
Winner: Ronin

My Thoughts:
That wasn’t a very good match, both styles clashed and in the end I was glad the match was over. Ronin’s more of a Character than a Wrestler so it’s understandable that his wrestling skills aren’t as good as say a Danny Devine or BBS. Carnage is use to wrestling good ‘pure’ wrestlers and this wasn’t the case tonight. On the plus side the ending to the match has advanced the Spud vs. Carnage storyline and that is good for AWW.

Moralez vs. Marcus Kool

Morales shows complete disrespect for Kool by slapping him across the face, it turned out to be mistake as it just fired up Kool! Who returned with a slap and punch of his own, a clothesline and dropkick followed in quick succession. Kool drop toe holds Moralez but when attempting the 6-1-9, Moralez rolls to the outside. Kool not perturbed quickly follows with a slingshot splash over the ropes, then the two competitors take the match around the Irish Centre. Kool calls for “Sweet chin music baby!” Moralez blocks but Kool reverses into a side effect for a close near fall. Kool goes up top but misses with a Swanton Bomb, Moralez makes Kool pay with a vicious club and sit-down power bomb but Kool kicks out! Moralez sets up another power bomb but Kool reverses Moralez onto the middle rope, and quickly follows with a 6-1-9 but that only gets a 2 count (Kool can’t believe it!) Moralez goes for Kool but he ducks, Moralez viciously clubs him to the back and gets the 1, 2 and 3. The fans show their appreciation to Kool with loud clapping as he leaves the ring.

Match Time: 12 minutes
Winners: Moralez

My Thoughts:
That was a superb match! I wasn’t sure what match of the night would be but it’s going to be incredibly hard to top this match. Kool and Moralez brought their ‘A’ game to the Irish Centre on this night and produced a breathless match for the fans in attendance. The near falls towards the end of this match made the fans gasp, and move to the edge of seats. Moralez showed why he is one of the best big men in the UK and Kool shows why he has potential to become one of the best in the UK also. That was a match that made me proud to report on Professional Wrestling, and I would love to see a rematch at some point down the road.

Spud vs. ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm

Duelling chant between the two bands that are playing at AWW’s Aston University show, “1 inch pisser” chant was once more directed at Spud. Then duelling chants of “Emo and Spud for champ”. Storm takes the microphone “It’s good to be back in AWW and Spud has a 1 inch pisser” Fans speculate it may be smaller with “½ inch pisser” chants, even a “Super Gran” chant starts up after a lady attacks Spud. Storm and Spud contest a hiptoss, reversing until Spud goes over the top rope to the floor below. Spud runs away from Storm, Storm catches up with him and after an arm drag applies the armlock, paint brushing Spud’s head as he does, hilariously Spud tells the referee “It hurts!”. An aeroplane spin knocks the ref down, Spud hit’s a jumping DDT but when he covers the ref is down, he blows snot on Storm! Storm replies with a wonder whirl but once again the ref is still down. Spud low blows Storm and hits with a Stunner, Carnage enters allowing Storm to roll Spud up for the 1, 2 and 3. “½ inch pisser chants once more” Spud chokes the ref and then hilariously trips himself up as he leaves the ring.

Match Time: 13 minutes
Winner: ’The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm

My Thoughts:
Another electric atmosphere created by the AWW fans, the duelling chants and entire noise made it difficult for me to think! Spud and Storm took part in a fine contest and a good way to finish the wrestling action for the night. Spud’s Rockstar character is like a breath of fresh air and Storm was just his usual entertaining self. Once again the Spud vs. Carnage storyline has been progressed, so this match had good wrestling and booking which is just what the fans want from Pro Wrestling show.

Dan Ryder’s Announcement:

Ryder comes out with a bandage over his eye and takes the microphone “I’ve never had my face burnt! I have been given opportunity to pick the match of choice, Hardcore (nope), TLC (loud cheer) not that either, at Aston University Me vs. Mad Dog Maxx in a Steel Cage!” The fans love that. Maxx interrupts and with a lariat levels Ryder! “You’re a silly little piss-ant Ryder” Maxx shouts, “Dan Ryder you have just signed your death warrant” Maxx concludes.

My Thoughts:
That was an effective segment, Ryder showed no fear by challenging Maxx to a Cage Match. Maxx’s beat down was pretty brutal including the lariat that flipped Ryder. Ryder is a crazy S.O.B. in the ring and I can’t even imagine what he will do in his quest to beat Maxx in the Cage Match (30th November 2007). In a match I will be watching with baited breath.

Overall Thoughts:
Tommy Gunn has a lot of potential and Danny D’s entertaining as hell creating a good match between to two. I hope to see the Young Gunn’s (Geraden/Gunn) tagging once more soon though! The battle royal was rushed but produced some WOW moments like Knight’s tumbling splash. BBS vs. Devine wasn’t as good as last month’s perfect match, but it was good in its own merit and I wonder where BBS will go (after he turned his back on fans). Ryder vs. Maxx was intense and had a WOW finish to end the match, Moralez vs. Kool was a superb match with incredible near falls. Spud vs. Storm was a good match with an electric atmosphere, to end the wrestling on the show. Maxx vs. Ryder in a Cage should be a treat come (30th November), another very good show put forth by AWW. They also deserve to be congratulated for the increase in attendance from 72 (last month) to 123 this month!

Match of the Night:
Moralez vs. Marcus Kool

Alan Wojcik Reviews Batista Unleashed

Courtesy of Alan J. Wojcik:

Biographies are not new to pro wrestling. World Wrestling Entertainment has put out biographies of their superstars since the late 1990’s when Mick Foley wrote the first of his three NY Times Bestsellers. Since then we have seen books from people deserving one like the Rock, Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and William Regal.) I have read all of them and never felt compelled to write about one, until now.

At an initial glance of the roster there is one superstar who I didn’t think deserved a book about them, that was until I read his book and truly believe he deserved it be published and receive the accolades that I hope will follow. That person is Dave Bautista AKA “the Animal” Batista the multi-time World Heavyweight champion. With the help of writer Jeremy Roberts, Bautista (the real spelling of his name according to the opening pages) give wrestling fans BATISTA UNLEASHED (WWE/Pocket Books, 305 pp, $26.00) one of the most honest books ever, not just in wrestling.

Think you had a tough childhood; try being Bautista who grew up in the not so glamorous Washington DC of the late 1970’s-early 1980’s where it was common to have dead people on your lawn when you got the morning newspaper. Bautista goes into his rough upbringing that led him to be in gangs and eventually group homes in addition to being moved around the country by his divorced parents. Think you might have changed professions too late in life; try being a thirty year old bodybuilder-night club bouncer who attended a defunct WCW Power Plant open call and being told you’re not good enough for wrestling. That’s exactly what happened to Bautista and a friend in 1999 before he found his way to the Pennsylvania based Wild Samoan’s training facility.

From there the fast road to superstardom begins. Going from the Samoan’s to OVW (WWE’s developmental Ohio Valley Wrestling) where Jim Cornette re-imagined him into Leviathan (where he met the Prototype AKA WWE Superstar John Cena) to his WWE debut as Deacon Batista with Reverend Devon (Brother Devon of Team 3D.) Next thing you know you are reading about Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton and the forming of the Evolution group that got Batista title reigns and main events on PPV’s. Mixed in are stories of traveling around the globe as part of the WWE and the fun times wrestling the top stars like The Undertaker, Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Edge and later on his own Evolution running mates. My personal favorite is a funny story of a bad trip with Bobby Lashley and Ken sorry…Mr. Kennedy.

During the trip to the top we also find out the pitfalls that nearly stopped Bautista in his tracks like being a parent before he got out of high school, failed marriages, infidelity with co-workers (the internet rumors are true and Bautista hates the internet) and his own teenage daughter being a parent. As I mentioned Bautista has nothing to hide but doesn’t go into great details in certain topics. You come away from reading this book hoping Bautista and his family is happy and healthy and he competes for many years to come.

The Sandman Speaks For The First Time Since His WWE Release

Courtesy of Andy Steven:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Interview With: The Sandman
Interview By: Andy Steven of www.PWMania.com
Date: October 29, 2007

Recently released World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, The Sandman, has spoken out for the first time since his WWE release with www.PWMania.com. He spoke on his release from WWE and gave the real reason to his release, the original plan for him in WWE/ECW. The different atmosphere’s backstage in RAW, SmackDown & ECW, the possibility of a TNA return and much more. The complete interview is below:

Andy Steven: Thanks for taking this time out once again to take part in this interview for www.PWMania.com. Online reports suggest that you were released after an incident during WWE's South Africa tour with Ricky Steamboat and you later asked for your release, can you explain the situation a little more and your thoughts on it?

The Sandman: Well actually the reason I am no longer with WWE is because I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family. I got tired of the road schedule.

Andy Steven: You were with WWE for over a year and had a huge involvement in the ECW return, what were WWE's original plans for ECW and you?

The Sandman: Well I am not sure what Vince McMahon’s plans for ECW were but the plans for me were to come in kick ass then leave that’s why you never saw me in full matches and when you did they were basically beatdowns.

Andy Steven: Did you enjoy your time working with WWE?

The Sandman: Yes it was great got to see allot of my old friends.

Andy Steven: Were there any differences of the atmosphere backstage between the live RAW shows and the ECW/SmackDown tapings?

The Sandman: Some what not too much though. ECW was different because we had a bunch of the originals so it was like home. When I entered RAW it was allot different.

Andy Steven: Have you been contacted by TNA or if asked to return to TNA would you consider it?

The Sandman: I would go over to TNA if offered the right amount of money.

Andy Steven: Who did you most enjoying working with during your time in WWE?

The Sandman: There was not really a certain person.

Andy Steven: Are you still in contact with anyone in WWE, if so who?

The Sandman: I am still in contact with some of the people but I barely use my phone so I barely talk to them.

Andy Steven: Who's idea was it to trade you to RAW, when did you find out about it and did you enjoy it more than ECW on Sci Fi and why?

The Sandman: It was the creative team’s idea to trade me. I found out about it last minute before the trade happened. I enjoyed ECW more then RAW because my friends were on ECW

Andy Steven: Do you have any plans for the near future?

The Sandman: Basically I am going to spend allot of time with my family. I will still take bookings but want time for my family. If anybody wants to book me they can do so by contacting Tod Gordon at www.myspace.com/pwuczar.

Andy Steven: I would like to thank you very much once again for taking this time to take part in this interview for www.PWMania.com, I wish you the best of luck in the future, do you have any messages to say to your fans?

The Sandman: I would like to thank you all for your support. Make sure to checkout the new official Sandman website at www.hardcoreiconsandman.com it just launched on the 25th.

World champion coach Pat Miletich and team featured on ESPN’s E:60 show Tuesday, player signings and appearances with USO, Warner Home Video and Muscle Milk all lead to first-ever live MMA event on broadcast primetime television on MyNetworkTV this Saturday from the Sears Centre

NEW YORK, October 29, 2007 – The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI), the world’s number one team-based professional mixed martial arts league, will hit the Chicago area hard with a week of partner activations and media activity, all leading up to Saturday night’s live broadcast on MyNetworkTV at the Sears Centre in suburban Hoffman Estates, Ill., the first-ever live Mixed Martial Arts event on primetime broadcast television. The IFL “World Grand Prix,” which will air on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 8 p.m. CT, will feature the light heavyweight title fight between Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko and Alex Schoenauer, and a highly-anticipated rematch between undefeated lightweight Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki and local favorite Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski among the nine bouts.

“This will be a big week, not just for the IFL, its coaches and athletes but also for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts,” said Gareb Shamus, IFL co-founder and CEO. “Whether it is a lengthy national feature on a legend like Pat Miletich and his athletes on ESPN, our live broadcast on MyNetworkTV, or the activation of sponsorships with partners like the USO, Warner Home Video and Muscle Milk, we are continuing to show that in just over a year the sport and the IFL brand continues to make solid strides into the mainstream.”

The IFL visibility will begin on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, when the new ESPN newsmagazine “E:60” takes an in-depth look at Quad Cities Silverbacks coach Miletich, his Bettendorf, Iowa, gym and all the athletes that make up his camp. On Wednesday, the IFL, through its partnership with the USO, will host a dinner and seminar for servicemen and women at the Great Lakes USO station. On Thursday, Miletich and local athletes Rory Markham and Palaszewski will visit the General Nutrition Center store in downtown Chicago to sign autographs, while world champions Ken Shamrock and Carlos Newton and Matyushenko will sign copies of WHV’s “IFL Great Knockouts and Extreme Action” at a downtown FYE. Later in the day, a suburban GNC will host a signing with world champion Bas Rutten and stars Horodecki and Benji Radach.

As a reminder, there will be no card in Villa Rica tonight. Southern Extreme Championship Wrestling will return on November 4.

Georgia Wrestling Promotions results from Waleska, GA, on October 27: Kid Ego, Jr., over Chris Lightning; Big Head Hansen & the Hellbillies (Timbo Bryant & Jessco Blue) over Jay Clinton, Talent & Money (J.T. Bailey) in a barbed wire cage match to retain the GWP Southern Tag Team Title. It was reported that 55 were in attendance for this card, held outdoors in cold weather. Chris Ganz was credited as being a referee for this card. Tempers and the Rev were both seen screaming at a weeping Kaos on the way to the dressing room, as she nearly cost Tempers the match with Slim J. Nemesis was a mystery opponent chosen by Aaron Voight for the match against Jackson. Nemesis was later seen trying to run over Jackson with his car in the parking lot.

Great Championship Wrestling results from Phenix City, AL, on October 27: Thug Rowe over David Young: the Hooligans (Mason & Devin Cutter) over Michael Cook & "That 80s Guy"; in another GCW Tag Team Title Tournament match, Hot Like Lava (Shaun Banks & Cru Jones) (w/ Quentin Michaels) over the NOW (Vik Dalishus & Hale Collins); Scotty Beach over Reuben James (w/ Randall Johnson); Tex Monroe (w/ Frankie Valentine) over Randall Johnson (w/ Reuben James); Orion Bishop (w/ Wicked Nemesis) over GCW Interstate Heavyweight Champion A.J. HISTORY

1941: Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Abe Simon announced the cancellation of a card to take place the following day at the Warren Arena in Atlanta because Lou Thesz, who was scheduled to wrestle Rudy Strongberg in the main event, had been injured in an automobile accident.

1949: Don McIntyre defeated Bill Cazzell to retain the Southern Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. McIntyre had been the reigning Southern Heavyweight Champion since he defeated the Black Menace on September 23, 1949, in Atlanta.

1955: Bill ‘Red’ McIntyre defeated Freddie Blassie to win the Southern Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. 1966: A match Southern Tag Team Champions Enrique & Ramon Torres and the Red Raiders was ruled a no contest in a title bout at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. The Raiders were initially declared the winners, but the decision was nixed when it was discovered they had used a cloth with a substance in an attempt to subdue Enrique. It was later reported to have been chloroform, after an empty bottle of carbon tetrachloride was found in the dressing room. The Raiders were reportedly fined $100 each for their actions. The Torres’ had been the reigning champions since they defeated Louie Tillet & Butcher Vachon on October 21, 1966, in Atlanta.

Chris Jericho Between The Ropes Interview

Between The Ropes

Central Florida's Sports Radio 740 The Team
Simulcast online at BetweenTheRopes.com

On Wednesday night, October 24, Chris Jericho joined hosts Brian Fritz, Dickerman, and Vito DeNucci live on Between The Ropes on Central Florida's Sports Radio 740 The Team to discuss his new book, his rise to wrestling stardom, the possibility of his return to wrestling, and much more.

The interview began with Chris joking about some of his old WCW theme music that Fritz played to greet him with. Chris said that he puts a lot of stock in how his theme music sounds and once, while in WCW, he heard his theme being used for basketball highlights on TBS. As a result he wondered why they didn't have Jimmy Hart, who wrote A Man Called Sting among other songs, write their music instead of randomly choosing some stock music from the production truck for their wrestlers.

Next Chris was asked about the process of writing his new book. He said he enjoyed it and he made sure he had final control over every aspect of the book. He also remarked that "it's very emotional and grueling to sit down and put your life story on paper. It's not just all about wrestling. It's a great wrestling story and wrestling fans will dig it, but there's so much more behind it than that. It's 15 years of experiences, of highs and lows to get to this dream of mine."

Chris also talked about whether he got any help on the book from wrestling's most prominent author, Mick Foley. "I asked Mick to read the final manuscript and give me a quote I could put on the back of my book. Mick then called me and told me he'd give me a quote, but he also had a couple of suggestions. I was thinking 'man, when a multi time New York Times best selling author wants to give you suggestions I'll take it." Chris went on to say that he expected 4 or 5 suggestions when in fact Mick had gone through all 411 pages and had a lot of suggestions on grammar. For this Chris gives Mick credit for helping him get together a good "polish edit."

When asked if there was any one thing that got him hired with WCW Chris responded that there "wasn't one instance where it was like 'that was the one, but it was a culmination of experiences. It was experiences like training in the Hart Brothers Pro Wrestling Camp, with no Hart Brothers, and getting my first match in Alberta, Canada,…going to Mexico, Germany, Japan, Smokey Mountain, and ECW. It gave me so many different colors to paint with. Not just in wrestling experience, but in life experience.

As an example of one of these life experience Chris told of being held up at gunpoint in Mexico City. "I tried to pick up a chick who happened to be a thief. She drove me to the edge of town, kicked me out of the car and took all my money. As she drove away I was thinking 'That bitch just stole my money and I bought her dinner. How big of a mark am I?"

Talk then turned to his hiatus from wrestling. Chris said that at first he didn't watch much wrestling after leaving. Though watches WrestleMania he has mostly kept up with the product by reading the internet. Chris then credited writing his book with reminding him how much he loved wrestling and how fortunate he was to have accomplished his dream of becoming a wrestler.

Regarding the entertainment aspect of wrestling Jericho said he feels it is the most important part of the business. "You need to have a part when you're in the wrestling business, you need to have a character. You have to commit to playing that character the same way that Anthony Hopkins committed to being a cannibal for Silence of the Lambs…that is what being a good character in wrestling is. Also taking chances, thinking outside of the box. I hung out with Pillman one weekend in ECW, it was the only time we ever really crossed paths. The one thing he told me that I remembered was that 'if you want to make it in wrestling you've got to think outside the box and do something that has never been done before.' That is a lesson for everybody to remember and learn. I've remembered it for everything I've done.

On his opinion of scripted promos Chris said that while he does sometimes work with writers such as Brian Gewirtz, whom he praised, he does do most of them himself since "there's nobody else that can write a promo for me and have it better than I have it in my head."

He also talked about developing his own promo style by watching guys like Ric Flair and Arn Anderson do taped local promos for WCW television. Eventually he was given the chance to experiment by doing some taped local promos himself. He also said he feels that WWE should give young guys a similar opportunity by making them cut their own promos on their online show Heat.

The interview finished with Chris talking about returning to wrestling. Chris said that "when the time comes I'll know." He went on to describe TNA as a "like a team that is only 2 or 3 players, and maybe a coach, away from a championship." When talking about WWE he emphasized that he left on good terms, enjoyed working for Vince, and that he has remained in contact with him throughout his time away. "For me WWE would be the first choice, but it wouldn't be the only choice. As a businessman you've got to look at both sides of the coin and do what's best for you and what's best for your family…I'm in a very enviable position because I'm not forced to do anything out of necessity, I can do whatever I want to do because I want to do it."

To listen to the entire Chris Jericho interview, including Chris discussing many hilarious stories from the road, seeing Ralphus oil himself up, and how to handle a poorly attended autograph signing, as well as the entire October 24th edition of Between The Ropes in streaming audio, visit the show online at http://www.BetweenTheRopes.com. Join us for Between The Ropes for two hours every Wednesday night at 10:00pm ET on Central Florida's Sports Radio 740 The Team and worldwide on BetweenTheRopes.com.

HISTORY

On this day in 1944, Bill Longson defeated Chief Saunooke to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Longson had been the reigning champion since he defeated Bobby Managoff in St. Louis, MO, on February 19, 1943. This version was the one recognized by the National Boxing Association as the National Wrestling Association.

On this day in 1964, Georgia Heavyweight Champion Sputnik Monroe and Chief Little Eagle wrestled to a draw in a title match at the Macon City Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Monroe had been the reigning champion since he defeated Don Fargo on October 16, 1964, in Atlanta.

On this day in 1967, Enrique & Alberto Torres defeated Oki Yama & El Mongol (managed by Jack Crawford) at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. During the match between Yama was unmasked, but had his face covered quickly and was unable to be identified.

On this day in 1973, the Super Gladiator defeated Tommy Seigler to win the Georgia Television Title at that day’s taping for All-South Wrestling Alliance promoter Ann Gunkel. It is unclear at this time how Seigler came to be recognized as the champion. Our records currently show him defending it on July 20, 1973, against Ox Baker. Baker had been the defending champion in a match exactly one week earlier against Mr. Kleen.

Also on this day in 1973, Bob Armstrong & Robert Fuller defeated Bobby Duncum & Stan Vachon to win the Georgia Tag Team Title at that day’s taping for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Duncum & Vachon had been the reigning champions since they defeated Armstrong & Tom Jones in the final round of a tournament on September 21, 1973, in Atlanta. That tournament also included the following teams: the Samoans, the Super Infernos (managed by J.C. Dykes), Ole & Gene Anderson, and Ricky Gibson & Bob Orton, Jr.

On this day in 1978, Ole Anderson & Stan Hansen defeated Tommy Rich & Mr. Wrestling #2 to retain the Georgia Tag Team Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Anderson & Hansen had been the reigning champions since they defeated Rick Martel & Tommy Rich on October 20, 1978, in Atlanta. Also on this card, Martel put up $1,000 if the Masked Superstar could pin him, and the Superstar put up $1,000 if Martel could break the cobra hold, but neither happened, as they wrestled to a draw. In a lights out match, Pez Whatley defeated Ole Anderson by countout.

On this day in 1979, Tommy Rich defeated Killer Karl Kox (managed by Bobby Heenan) to retain the Georgia Heavyweight Title at that day’s taping for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Following the match, Heenan burned Rich’s face with a cigar. Rich had won the title from Kox the night before in Atlanta.
