WWE also released the unedited version of CNN’s documentary “Death Grip: Inside Pro Wrestling”, whereas it appears the network chose to show John Cena’s comments out of context (http://www.wwe.com/content/media/video/vms/none/2007/november8-14/5834560?zone=cenaoncnn_index). They also released the forty-two minute version (http://www.wwe.com/content/media/video/vms/none/2007/november8-14/5836264?zone=cenaoncnn_index). Pro Wrestling Blog interviewed CNN’s Drew Griffin, host of the documentary (http://www.pwbpodcastlive.com/podcasts/pwbpodcast110907no117.mp3). The November 5 edition of Monday Night Mayhem featured Christian Cage and Steve Johnson (http://www.georgiawrestlinghistory.com/showreports/2007/028.html).

NOTES

You can contact the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey) for bookings via email.

Bull Buchanan returned last week to Great Championship Wrestling from his NOAH tour. At the time he left to begin the tour, he was the reigning GCW Heavyweight Champion. Larry Goodman had reported that GCW told him they had given NOAH permission to allow Buchanan to defend the title there, but there is no documented record of that being the case. Both Goodman and Brian Slack have researched the NOAH tour, and no defenses were documented. We love kayfabe, and appreciate that some promotions do all they can to protect it, but in the Internet world, you just can’t hide something like this. If they felt truly compelled to announce that their top champion was going to NOAH right after winning the title, perhaps a better angle could have been that NOAH had asked them to send their top champion at the time. Furthermore, with enough advance notice that Buchanan was going to Japan, and also intended to put the title on him, they could have set it up for weeks that the GCW Heavyweight Champion was going to represent GCW on a NOAH tour, and used that for weeks as an angle for all the competitors to have been chasing the title. Some fans might have seen through it, but it would have seemed more likely – and a lot more interesting – than what was done.
