Southern Extreme Championship Wrestling runs in Carrollton, GA, tonight at the VFW Fairgrounds, beginning at 6:00 PM. Call (770) 355-5742 for more info. All tickets are $10.00, and it includes a concert by Doug Stone and Brittany Leigh beginning at 4:00 PM. The doors open at 3:00. Advertised: Bull Buchanan versus Bulldog Raines; Brad Armstrong & Ricky Morton versus Will Owens & the Super Destroyer; Tommy Rich & Kidd Enigma versus Chick Donovan & Kidd Body Drop; Austin Creed & Adrian Hawkins versus K.I. Georgia Wrestling Promotions’ lineup for tonight’s show in Woodstock at the Hot Wheels Skate Center: Patrick Bentley versus Gangrel; David Young versus Cru Jones; Ace Rockwell & Bill Dundee versus the Masked Superstar & Jay Clinton (with Aaron Voight); Big Head Hansen versus Locomotive (with Ace Heffner); the Super Destroyer versus Jamar Acid; Slim J versus Kid Ego; Jess Wade & D.L. Norris versus Justin Dirt & Dustin Powers; and the Regular Guys, Talent & Money, the Hollywood Brunettes, and Kid Ego & Jeff Jameson in a four-way tag match. The Devil's Rejects (Iceberg & Shaun Tempers with Reverend Wilson) have issued an open challenge. Power Pro Wrestling Alliance results from Jessie Davis Park Gymnasium in Douglasville, GA, on January 26: Josh Storm over Jason Lynn; T.L. Adams over the Bouncer; Shannon Dumas & Midnight over the Southern States Outlaws (Michael Cross & Shane Williams); J-Rod over Dark Star, with Cru Jones attacking J-Rod after the match … setting up … Jones & Star over J-Rod & T.J. Hogan; and the main event between Bull Buchanan and Bulldog Raines ended in a double disqualification after referee Billy Knight was thrown from the ring by both men. It was reported that 125 were in attendance for this card. Aside from Knight, Ricky Spears was also credited as being a referee. The PPWA has announced a return to Jessie Davis Park on March 1. On January 26 Florida Championship Wrestling returned to the Jewish Community Center: Robert Anthony defeated “Campus Legend” Brad Allen; Billy Kidman & Matt O’Neal defeated “The Natural” Nic Nemeth & Big Rob; In his FCW debut multi-generational superstar Eddie Colon defeated “Bad Seed” Shawn Osborne; “New” FCW Southern Heavyweight champion “Handsome” Heath Miller (w/FCW Champion Ted DiBiase Jr.) defeated Steve Lewington; In a no DQ Leather Strap Match, “Stampede Kid” TJ Wilson defeated Afa Jr.; and “Puerto Rican Nightmare” Eric Perez won the FCW Royal Rumble and he will receive a shot at the FCW Southern Heavyweight championship at the February 15th event. Alternative Pro Wrestling results from January 25 in Royston, GA: Ryan Michaels defeated Chase Darkness; Chris King defeated Aaron Lee; Chris Mayne (with Kevin Duncan) defeated Seth Delay by disqualification; Jeremy Vain (with Don Matthews) defeated Matt Sex Sells (with Ryan Michaels); the Friday Night Franchise (Matt Sex Sells & Ryan Michaels) defeated Justin Dirt and Dustin Powers to win the APW Tag Team Title; and APW Heavyweight Champion J.T. Results from Friday night's Southern All-Star Wrestling show at the bakery in Millersville, TN, for a crowd of 145: Chris Eckos beat Chris Cane; Hammerjack beat Tatsu (again); In a match up between two Derby City guys, Damian Adams beat Raul Loco; Matt Dillinger over Arrick Andrews via countout. Paul Adams and Hammerjack did a run in. Andrews took care of Hammerjack, but Rick Santel shoved Andrews off the top rope, injuring his knee for the count out; Tribal Nation (Lennox Lightfoot & Indian Outlaw) beat Shaped Dressed Man & Big Rig Brown; and Rick Santel (with Adams) beat "Boogie Woogie Boy" Gary Valiant. Adams distracted after a Valiant powerslam. Hammerjack joined Adams but got superkicked by Valiant. Meanwhile, Adams gave Hammerjack's sledge to Santel, and it was lights out for Boogie. The rudos put the Boogie's mouth on the mic and slapped him around. Andrews and Damian Adams made the save. (Larry Goodman)

NOSTALGIA

1905: M.J. Dwyer defeated Charles Leonhardt in a Greco-Roman match at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

1921: Nick (Dick) Daviscourt defeated Hassen the Turk in two straight falls in just shy of an hour at the Savannah Municipal Auditorium for promoter Max Bauman.

1931: Paul Harper defeated Nick Velcoff in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Henry Weber. Also, Abe Kaplan and Vanka Zelezniak, substituting for Hans Steinke, wrestled to a draw. It was reported that Steinke’s daughter was seriously ill.

1937: Mike Nazarian defeated Lee Meyers in the main event at the New Coliseum in Augusta for promoter Bill Metzger.

1939: We do not have results for this match, but Jack McAdams was scheduled to defend the Southern Light Heavyweight Title against Red Dugan at the Warren Arena in Atlanta for promoters Frank Bettis and Cleve Roby.

1945: Babe Zaharias defeated Al Massey in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones.

1956: Freddie Blassie defeated Jackie Nichols to retain the Southern Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones.

1958: The Mighty Yankee (Roger Mackay) defeated Jackie Nichols in a main event Texas death match at the William Bell Auditorium in Augusta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Robert ‘Bibber’ McCoy.

1960: The Fabulous Moolah defeated Rita Cortez to retain the Women’s World Title in the main event at the Columbus Sports Arena for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Freddie Blassie defeated Chief Little Eagle by disqualification in the semi-main event.

1961: Skull Murphy defeated Chief Little Eagle by disqualification in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Ray Gunkel, Bill Dromo & Tiny Evans defeated Danny Miller, Red Dugan & Gypsy Joe in the semi-main event.

1967: Enrique Torres defeated Butcher Vachon in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Buddy Fuller defeated Louie Tillet to retain the Georgia Heavyweight Title in the semi-main event. Also, Lou Thesz defeated Krusher Kowalski. Nick Kozak & Bobby Hart and Lars & Gene Anderson wrestled to a draw, while El Mongol, managed by Jack Crawford, defeated Dick Murdoch.

1968: Tarzan Tyler & El Mongol defeated Bill Dromo & Mr. Wrestling, and Dr. M defeated Johnny Walker on the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. Jack Crawford managed Dr. M. It was announced that the suspension of Mongol had been partially lifted, assuming Crawford could produce both Mongol and Dr. M at the same time, as promoter Paul Jones was convinced they were the same person. Jones said that if Crawford could not put both men in the ring at the same time, Crawford, too, would face suspension. He was not satisfied simply with both men being in separate matches, and insisted that both men participate in the same match on February 2, 1968.

1970: Alberto & Ramon Torres defeated the Southeastern Tag Team Champion Assassins by disqualification in a title match at the Macon City Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward.

1975: We do not have results for this card, but Rocky Johnson was scheduled to defend the Georgia Heavyweight Title against Buddy Colt, managed by Bearcat Wright, at the William Bell Auditorium in Augusta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Charlie Harben. The advertised main event was Assassin #2, managed by Rock Hunter, versus Mr. Wrestling #2. Hunter was to be suspended above the ring in a cage during the match. Also on the bill was a Texas death match featuring Ricky Gibson versus Bob Orton, Jr.

1975: We do not have results for this card, but Robert Fuller and Mighty Yankee #2, managed by J.C. Dykes, were to wrestle in a lights out, hair versus mask match at the Macon Coliseum for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. The semi-main event was advertised as Dykes versus Jimmy Golden in a no disqualification match.

1976: Bob Armstrong defeated the Georgia Heavyweight Champion Spoiler, managed by Gary Hart, by disqualification in a title match at the Macon Coliseum for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Hart was suspended above the ring in a cage during the match. Dick Slater & Mr. Wrestling #2 defeated Moondog Mayne & Abdullah the Butcher in the semi-main event.

1978: Dick Slater & Dusty Rhodes defeated Ole Anderson & Stan Hansen in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Rock Hunter defeated Pak Song in the semi-main event, with Abdullah the Butcher was handcuffed to the ringpost during the match. Also, Tony Atlas defeated Ox Baker.

1980: Mr. Wrestling #2 defeated the Masked Superstar in a main event shackle match at the Omni Auditorium in Atlanta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Also, Dusty Rhodes defeated Terry Funk in the semi-main event, and Kevin Sullivan defeated Austin Idol to win the Georgia Television Title. Ivan Koloff & Alexis Smirnoff defeated Ole & Lars Anderson to retain the Georgia Tag Team Title, while Bob Backlund defeated Toru Tanaka, managed by Gorgeous George, Jr., to retain the WWWF Heavyweight Title.

1982: Ron Bass defeated Tommy Rich in the main event at the Columbus Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Leroy Brown & Big Red defeated the Masked Superstar & the Super Destroyer in the semi-main event. Also, Brad Armstrong & El Gran Apollo defeated Kevin Sullivan & Ken Timbs.
