Osamu Nishimura held a press conference today from within the All Japan offices to announce Dory Funk's Japan Retirement match. Nishimura & Dory will team up to take on the returning Genichiro Tenryu & Masanobu Fuchi! This will be Tenryu's first match in All Japan since the 12/5/04 Sumo Hall big match. As we all know, Dory and his younger brother Terry were an integral part of shaping All Japan in the 70's and 80's, having classic battles with Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta, Genichiro Tenryu, Brusier Brody, Stan Hansen, and many other wrestlers at the time. Nishimura said that he remembered watching those matches as a child and being charmed to death. Nishimura was in charge of the match making for Dory Funk Jr. this upcoming tour, and after years of trying to put it together (actually, since 2000) that he finally decided upon asking Tenryu to be involved. When Tenryu was asked in January, he surprisingly accepted, saying that he wanted to help see Dory off. Since this will be Dory's first set of matches in All Japan since 1996, Nishimura encouraged the fans to come out and see true pro-wrestling, and to take a lesson from the past.
