Great Championship Wrestling returns to Phenix City, AL, at the GR8 SK8 Plex tonight with a start time of 7:30pm. GCW has not released a card for this show, but it is known that Micah Taylor will be seeking revenge against Johnny Swinger as a result of last week's "Title vs. Traci" match won by Swinger. Swinger thereby obtained ownership of Traci Taylor. (Larry Goodman)

The Georgia Pro Wrestling Association will host their bi-weekly Thursday night event from Club What's Next??? in Tifton, GA, tonight at 8pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, kids 6-12 $5, and under 6 get in free. Advertised: in the main event, "Platinum Playboy" Preston Paradise will defend the GPWA Heavyweight Championship against "The Black Supaman" A.J. Steele. In the semi-main event, "The Shooter" Vordell Walker will take on "The Next Level" Jon Davis. Other matches include: 400lb. There will be no Independent Wrestling Network event on June 13 in Columbus, GA, at the IWN Event Center. Sources state that IWN is done in Columbus, and apparently owner Dwayne Bell has been asked to vacate the building. I have been unable to reach Bell for comment. (Larry Goodman)

It was reported that when Nick Bockwinkel forced El Mongol to submit with the figure four leglock, that it was the first time Mongol had ever conceded a match. Bockwinkel had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Assassin #1 on April 17, 1970. Homer O’Dell managed Buddy Colt & Karl Von Stroheim. It was announced that the Missouri Mauler and the Challenger would be wrestling in Atlanta on June 19, 1970, card, and the Challenger would unmask in order to participate in a tournament to determine a challenger to wrestle the NWA World Heavyweight Champion on June 26, 1970. The program for this card reports that there were fans who were persistently alleging that the Gladiator and the Missouri Mauler were actually the Assassins under assumed identities.

JUNE 12, 1971 (SATURDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WQXI STUDIOS (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Assassin #1 versus El Mongol ended in a double disqualification > The Professional defeated Mr. X > Rocket & Flash Monroe defeated Dick Steinborn & Jerry Oates / Notes: This was taped for the “Atlanta TV Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. It was announced that the Assassins were filing a protest with the NWA over the outcome of their match against Georgia Tag Team Champions Ray Gunkel & El Mongol on June 11, 1971. Paul Jones later joined Capral to announce that he was temporarily holding up the title pending a ruling from the investigation by the NWA. It is unclear as to what happened in the match to prompt this.
