Peach State Pandemonium featured Jimmy Rave, who just returned to the states earlier this week from his tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Wednesday night. Rave talked in depth about the tour, and his scheduled return to Japan, but also talked about his work with Total Nonstop Action. We also spoke with a local wrestler with big time potential in Cru Jones, Georgia Wrestler of the Month, who minced no words when discussing his time with Deep South Wrestling, an ill-timed injury as a developmental contract was ready for him, and his thoughts on various promoters. Matthew Randazzo, author of Ring of Hell, joined us as well. He told us about the controversial book and the process of making it. Click here for the archive. This version was the one recognized by the National Boxing Association as the National Wrestling Association. George Harben would eventually turn professional.

JUNE 19, 1959 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Women’s World Title Match: the Fabulous Moolah* versus Ann Regan > Southern Heavyweight Title Match: Freddie Blassie defeated Dickie Gunkel* to win title / Notes: Ann Regan and the Fabulous Moolah were scheduled to wrestle each other, but no results were reported after the card. The Fabulous Moolah had been billed as Women’s World Champion since she defeated Judy Grable on September 18, 1956, in Baltimore, MD. However, she was not considered the undisputed champion until June Byers retired with her title, won in Atlanta on August 20, 1954, in a win over Mildred Burke, until Byers retired in 1964. Dickie Gunkel had been the reigning Southern Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Freddie Blassie on April 17, 1959, in Atlanta.

Rocky Storm had been the reigning Negro Men’s Southern Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Matt Jewell on June 12, 1964, in Atlanta.

JUNE 19, 1965 (SATURDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WAII STUDIOS (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) Notes: This was for the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. Capral announced that Paul Jones made a decision to declare the Southern Tag Team Title vacant, as it had been learned that Al Galento would be unable to wrestle anytime soon due to the injury suffered on June 18, 1965. A tournament was announced for June 25, 1965, to determine new champions.
