World Wrestling Entertainment results from the Taylor County Coliseum in Abilene, TX, on June 28: Kofi Kingston over Shelton Benjamin; Ted DiBiase, Jr., over Super Crazy; Lance Cade over Trevor Murdoch; Matt Hardy & the Big Show over Mark Henry & MVP; Kane over Chavo Guerrero to retain the ECW Heavyweight Title; Mickie James over Katie Lea Burchill to retain the WWE Women’s Title; Chris Jericho over Jeff Hardy, with help from Cade, to retain the Inter-Continentail Heavyweight Title; and Batista & Triple H over Edge & JBL. WWE’s Night of Champions PPV will be at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX, tonight. Great Championship Wrestling results from Johnny’s Pizza in Villa Rica, GA, on June 28: A brawl ensued during the opening interview with Johnny's Pizza owner Joe and manager Jimmy, with Quentin Michaels making them tag team partners of the first match. John Bogie & Jimmy beat Orion Bishop & Joe (with Wicked Nemesis). Shaun Banks pinned Alex Silva. Murder One (with Wicked Nemesis) pinned Scotty Beach. Micah Taylor beat GCW Heavyweight Champion Johnny Swinger (with Quentin Michaels & Tracy) by disqualification on a reverse decision. Swinger initially won the match using brass knuckles, but referee Scrappy McGowan found them and reversed the decision. J-Rod pinned Cru Jones to win the GCW Interstate Championship. Princeton Gainey III came to ringside and insulted ring announcer Rob Russo until Russo clotheslined him out of the ring. Peachstate Wrestling Alliance results from the Activity Center in Bremen, GA, on June 28: the Ultimate Dragon over Damon Taz to win the PWA Southern Cruiserweight Title; Sal Rinauro over Ace Rockwell; a match featuring Mike Jackson versus El Mexicano was a no contest due to interference from Rinauro and the Dragon; Little Mr. Kennedy over Little Poppa Pump in a midget match; Disco Inferno over the Lethal Luchador; and Buff Bagwell over T.C. Carnage. Paid attendance was reported as 184. PWA will be at the Activity Center in Bremen, GA, on July 25. Bell time is 7:30 PM. Doors open at 6:30. Admission is $10. United States Wrestling Organization/ATL results from June 28 at the Stadium Inn in Nashville, TN, with a crowd just 32. Little Booger (with Charming Charles) beat Dyronic. Booger debuted a new look, which was one of the highlights of the show. New York Gangster & Damien Payne beat Convict & Kid Dynamite via stereo pins. Gangster & Payne won their first of a 2-match gauntlet in order to get a tag title shot. Justin Spade beat Lee Cross (w/The Diva Lisa Fayzon) and Tommy Capone when Spade pinned Cross. New York Gangster & Damien Payne beat Dyronic & Shawn Hoodrich when Gangster pinned Dyronic, their second of the 2-match gauntlet. Derrick Neal & White Tiger beat Richard Lowe & Farron Foxx when Neal pinned Foxx. ATL Tag Team Champions Michael Jablonski & Chris Norte beat New York Gangster & Damien Payne by DQ due to Gangster & Payne both hitting special referee (and Jablonski/Norte's manager) Nick White. United Championship Wrestling ran in LaFollette, TN, on June 28, and here are the results: J.J. Brown vs. J Mac went to a no contest; The Rip d. Justin O'Day; Henry Hoss & Moondog Chester d. J.J. Brown & J Mac; Travis Sawyer d. Tropper T to win the UCW TV Title; John Justice d. Edwin Idol to win the UCW Title; and John Justice d. The Rip to retain his newly won title. NOTES

Prime Time Pro Wrestling is in the process of finalizing deal to debut at the old GCW Arena in Columbus, GA, on July 18. Promoter Billy Roper made it public at the start of the PTPW show Friday night in Manchester, GA. That would make it a double shot weekend for the promotion, as the return date in Manchester was announced for July 19. (Larry Goodman)

Atlanta-based WQXI-AM’s 790 the Zone will begin broadcasting Bryan Alvarez’ show on Sunday nights from 8-10:00 PM ET tonight. Sixty years ago this week, the station began broadcasting live from the Atlanta Muncipal Auditorium for Paul Jones’ promotion, carrying a main event title match where NWA World Heavyweight Champion Bill Longson defeated Pete Managoff, with Fred Anderson calling the action. This would continue each week for many years, mostly just featuring main event bouts. (Rich Tate)
