NEWS and NOTES

Peach State Pandemonium featured longtime Peach State Wrestling promoter Ben Masters on Wednesday night. We were also joined by Global Championship Wrestling’s Mad Dog Sawyer, who gave us some history on the 15 year promotion, and laid out the plan for the August 23 event in Irondale, AL, in which Ric Flair will be making an appearance. Tickets for the following World Wrestling Entertainment events go on sale tomorrow: September 29 in Stevens Point, WI, at the Quandt Fieldhouse.

WWE has announced the following events: October 11, RAW in Reno, NV, at the Lawlor Events Center; and October 20, SmackDown/ECW in Hidalgo, TX, at the Dodge Arena.

We reported Wednesday night that Gail Kim parted ways with Total Nonstop Action. We have since learned that her contract expired after renegotiations stalled. The word we have is that she is planning a return to WWE, and had a meeting today with John Laurinaitis, WWE’s Director of Talent Relations.

Tickets for the following TNA events go on sale tomorrow: October 3 in Lowell, MA, at the Tsongas Arena; October 4 in Glens Falls, NY, at the Glens Falls Civic Center; and October 5 in Plattsburg, NY, at the Crete Civic Center.

Longtime southern wrestler/referee Sonny ‘Roughhouse’ Fargo, whose real name was Jack Faggart, passed away Wednesday night. Fargo had lost both legs as a result of diabetes and was a widower. We have no further details to report at this time.

Patrick Miller, a regular for NWA Main Event, was killed in an automobile accident on August 17. A service will be held at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home in Clarksville, TN, on August 23 at 1:00 PM. Main Event held a memorial for him last night at their weekly event in Nashville, TN.

Doors open at 6:00 and belltime is at 6:30. Tickets for both the wrestling and the rodeo are $12 in advance and $14 at the door.

All-Star Wrestling presents “Oops We Did It Again” on Saturday August 23 at the Spring Hill Outlet Mall, located at 3021 US 19 in Spring Hill, Florida. The match between Jack Doyle and George Harben ended when both men were knocked out and unable to continue. This was reported to have been Doyle’s “local debut.”

It was announced that Rocket Monroe was injured during his match with partner Flash Monroe against Bill Dromo & Klondike Bill on August 20, 1971, and would be out of action for at least two weeks. It was also announced that Homer O’Dell intended to file an appeal regarding the outcome of the match between Buddy Colt and Dory Funk, Jr., from August 21, 1971, claiming El Mongol interfered first, and although that would not result in Colt winning the NWA World Heavyweight Title, at least it should garner an immediate rematch.
