In a move made effective immediately, Prime Time Pro Wrestling has reassigned booking duties to Drew Golden, who wrestles as Raunchy as part of the Southside Trash. He replaces SST partner Randy Harris, who wrestles as Rowdy on the tag team. Harris was notified of this move Saturday. Although surprised by the move, Harris says he accepts the change and expects no ill will to affect his partnership with Golden.

The Baltimore Sun’s Mark Chalifoux has named a short list of opponents for Kimbo Slice, and it includes the Undertaker, of whom he writes: “The whole "wrestling-to-MMA" angle has worked wonders with Brock Lesnar. Unfortunately, Lesnar is a world-class wrestler and an athletic freak who would destroy Slice. So, EXC would have to go for more of an entertainer than an athlete. The Undertaker has great name recognition and is a big guy, but he’s not the WWE’s most athletic wrestler and he’s no spring chicken.” Click here to read the piece in full.

It was reported that the purse for the battle royal was $5,000 and a trophy. J.C. Dykes managed the Super Infernos. The first time we have seen Les Thatcher’s column appears in the program for this card. Thatcher was co-hosting the “Georgia Championship Wrestling” show with Gordon Solie at this time, and would be instrumental to the company on and off through July 1984. Earlier in the day, an article appeared in the Atlanta Constitution about a pending lawsuit whereas the Super Gladiator was pressing charges against Jack Brisco for slander and harassment. The article exposed the Gladiator’s real name, referring to him as both Ricky Hunter and Charles Sprott, his legal name used in the documents.

AUGUST 24, 1978 (THURSDAY) – ROME, GA – ROME MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM (Charlie Harben – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > One-Night Tournament: Stan Hansen (Winner) King Kong Mosca, Thunderbolt Patterson, Ivan Koloff, Mr. Wrestling #2, Hartford Love, Pez Whatley, Len Denton, and Rick McGraw also participated / Notes: A battle royal was scheduled, but no details were provided. It is unclear as to the pairings and results for the tournament. The tournament was to determine the challenger to face the NWA World Heavyweight Champion on August 31, 1978.
