NEWS and NOTES

World Wrestling Entertainment’s RAW/ECW crew will be at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA, tonight. This is the first time WWE has been to Wilkes-Barre since the exploding limousine incident that produced the aborted angle of Vince McMahon’s death in 2007.

The RAW portion will be broadcast live at 9:00 PM ET on Sci-Fi Channel tonight instead of the USA Network, which is showing the US Open. However, USA will show a tape delay telecast at 11:00 PM ET.

The ECW portion of the show is being taped to be shown tomorrow night on Sci-Fi at 10:00 PM ET. Look for a match featuring Mike Knox versus Finlay.

WWE RAW results from the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA, on August 24: Santino Marella over Kofi Kingston; Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, Jr., over Cryme Tyme; Jamie Noble over Snitsky; Beth Phoenix over Mickie James; Lance Cade over D-Lo Brown; Primo Colon over William Regal; CM Punk over JBL; and John Cena & Batista over Chris Jericho & Kane.

WWE SmackDown/ECW results from the Canton Civic Center in Canton, OH, on August 24: Evan Bourne over Chavo Guerrero; John Morrison over Tommy Dreamer; Ron Killings over Carlito; Michelle McCool over Maryse; Shelton Benjamin over Jeff Hardy; Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder over Jesse & Festus; Matt Hardy over Mark Henry, with Tony Atlas, by disqualification; and Triple H & the Undertaker over MVP & the Great Khali.

Total Nonstop Action will be taping for iMPACT! at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, tonight. Admission for tapings is free. Call (407) 224-6000 for more info. This will be taped for the August 28 broadcast on Spike TV. Advertised: Kurt Angle versus Kevin Nash, with the winner earning a slot in the No Surrender main event, challenging for Samoa Joe’s TNA World Heavyweight Title in a four-way that also already includes Booker T. The final slot will be determined at tomorrow night’s tapings, with the winner of a match featuring Christian Cage versus A.J. Styles advancing.

TNA will be at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, AL, on November 16. More details to be announced soon regarding ticket information.

In a Georgia Rules match, "Action" Mike Jackson defeats The Ultimate Dragon to become the new Southern Cruiserweight champion. "Total Protection" Mr. Hughes defeats American Rex, who was subbing for Rob Adonis. Consequences Creed defeats Truitt Fields. It was reported that 174 were in attendance.

Flatline Championship Wrestling results from “Heat Stroke” on August 23 at Liberty Park in Grovetown, GA. Nick Kismet defeated Italian Ice. Hallowicked defeated Venom. The Common Man & Big Hoss defeated Matt Crosby, Big Game James & Tyson Riddick in a Handicap Match. Chris Mayne defeated Ethan Case & ECW original Chris Hamrick to retain the FCW Rage title. The Internationals (Hans Baumgartner & The Live Organ) defeated V.I.P. (Cali Casanova & Brandon Paradise). Darkness defeated Johnny Blaze & Josh Magnum to win King of the Ladder title. Soul Crusher defeats Nasty Kritter. Jayson Phoenix defeats Russian Assassin. Orion Bishop & Scotty Blaze defeat Hot Like Lava. Veronica Fairchild vs Tracy Taylor was declared a no contest when Daffney interfered. Nightprowler defeats Jesse Pain. Muddbone defeats David Young due to outside interference. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong defeats "Mad Dog" Dan Sawyer. Samoan Soldiers retain the GCW tag titles by defeating INHuman Fly & Joey Lightning. Bull Buchanan defeats Theodore Tutwiler III to become the new GCW Heavyweight champion. The next GCW event will be in Palmerdale, AL, on August 30th. Former WWE champion, Mick Foley will be the guest of the Nov 8th show. Plans are to have the Nov 8th show in Irondale.

Only 21 in attendance at the Stadium Inn on August 23 for the United States Wrestling Organization/ATL Wrestling show in Nashville, TN: Chris Norte beat Dyronic. Travis Starr beat Bizarre-O (w/Blue Amigo). Derrick Neal beat Blue Amigo (w/Bizarre-O). Chris Norte beat White Tiger and Travis Starr in a 3-way when Norte pinned Starr. New York Gangster & Damien Payne beat ATL Tag Team Champions Kevin Dunn & Richard Lowe by DQ when Lowe hit Gangster with the title belt.

Prime Time Pro Wrestling results for August 22 from the Event Center in Columbus, GA: Rob Adonis defeated J.T. Talent. Chick Donovan defeated Dustin Powers to remain undefeated in PTPW. In the tag team title match, The Southside Trash beat Simon Sermon & Thomas Britain to became PTPW tag team champions. Chris Stevens was the winner over Deathrow by disqualification when Colt Derringer interfered in the match. Jake Slater and Preston Paradise wrestled to a time limit draw in a best of 3 falls match; each had 1 pin when time expired. Elix Skipper was the winner over Champion Colt Derringer, but after the match, Commissioner Eddy Phillips declared that the match was not for the title and Colt Derringer retained the belt. Derringer refused to wrestle Skipper again until Skipper had beaten the #1 contender.

Due to a death in the family of promoter Chris Lash, the Allied Powers Wrestling Federation has cancelled its show scheduled for September 20 in Palm Coast, FL.
