September 10, 2008—San Juan Capistrano, CA—Mixed martial arts fight club, Team Oyama, based in Irvine, CA, joined with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County to build affordable, new homes designed for the needs of disabled veterans and their families. Working with the “Homes for Heroes” project, Team Oyama will help the non-profit organization complete 27 homes in a beautiful San Juan Capistrano community.

“These guys put it all on the line for our freedom. They deserve these homes and we are thrilled to lend a few muscles to the effort,” says Elite XC fighter and Team Oyama member, Shane Del Rosario. “This is a small way we can say thank you to our servicemen and women.”

The community of San Juan Capistrano has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County to build twenty-seven homes in their city. Fourteen of these affordable ownership homes are being marketed to disabled veterans and their families or surviving families of soldiers killed in action.

“Homes for Heroes” will be a unique neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano that Habitat hopes will soon be emulated across the United States. This small community within a community will bring together local families and veterans' families who all struggle to meet rising housing costs in Orange County.

“Being an active part of our community is important to us as a team, as competitors and we want to help those who have supported our sport through the years,” says Team Oyama coach, Colin Oyama.
