United States Wrestling Organization results from September 26 at the Stadium Inn in Nashville, TN: Attendance was up to 52. Saint beat Shawn Hoodrich. Lee Cross beat Psycho Medic. A post-match beat down by Cross was stopped by the returning Steven Green, Jeremiah Plunkett beat White Tiger via submission. USWO Jr. Champion Josh Crowe beat Cousin Jason X in a hardcore match. Seven (with Charming Charles) vs. T.J. Harley went to a double DQ when Seven refused to stop choking Harley, who responded by low-blowing Seven. USWO Tag Team Champions Damien Payne & New York Gangster beat Saint & Lee Cross by DQ when Saint used a chair on Gangster. Snake Jones (with Charming Charles) vs. Michael Jablonski was a no contest after Jones applied the claw to ref Mark Owen and left him laying in the ring.
NAWA Ring Champions return to the historic Purks in Cedartown, GA, at 330 West Avenue on October 4 advertising Nigel Sherrod defending the Ladies World Title versus Bambi and an appearance by former WWE star Hillbilly Jim. The program we have for this card continues to reference Bill Hartman (Ticket Sales) and Simon Davis (Timekeeper) as part of the office staff in Atlanta. This same program is the first we have that provides information on the local televised “Live Atlanta Wrestling,” which can be seen “on Channel 11 every Monday night at 10:15,” with a plug to sponsor Budweiser Beer. Ed Capral has been hosting since he replaced Ray McCay sometime in 1955. It was announced that Chris Tolos, Fred Atkins, and Prince Emir would be wrestling in Atlanta soon, and that Paul Jones was negotiating with Bill Parks for some dates.

SEPTEMBER 28, 1971 (TUESDAY) – MACON, GA – MACON COLISEUM (Fred Ward – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Bill White defeated Alex Medina > Roberto Soto defeated Cisco Grimaldo > Alex Medina & Roberto Soto defeated Bill White & Joe Turco > Choo-Choo Lynn versus Mr. X ruled a no contest > Bob Armstrong, George Scott & El Mongol defeated Big John & the Assassins / Notes: During the match between Bob Armstrong, George Scott & El Mongol and Big John & the Assassins, John slammed Scott’s head into the ring post, opening up a huge gash, spilling blood everywhere. When Scott came to his senses, he looked for John, but John had already tagged out and never returned to the ring. As soon as the match ended, John retreated to the dressing room quickly to avoid being confronted by Scott.

SEPTEMBER 28, 1980 (SUNDAY) – COLUMBUS, OH – OHIO CENTER [P] (Les Thatcher – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Terry Taylor versus Dennis Condrey > Ivan Koloff versus Mr. Wrestling #2 > Kevin Sullivan & Steve Keirn versus the Assassins > Andre the Giant versus the Masked Superstar > Dusty Rhodes versus Ole Anderson / Notes: No documented results for this card have been found. This was the first card held in the expansion to the North by Georgia Championship Wrestling. The decision to move north was made when the letter writing campaign that had led to Mr. Wrestling #2 becoming the Champion of Champions a few months back showed that a majority of the correspondence was coming from Ohio and surrounding states. GCW would go on to make Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia regular stops, which were all coordinated by Les Thatcher. It has been claimed that GCW fired the first shots toward invading others’ territories, rather than Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Federation, but in fact, Ed Farhat (a/k/a the Sheik) gave his blessings to GCW moving into his territory based out of Detroit, MI, and also became involved in some of the promotion in the early stages. His own territory would cease operations in December 1980, but in no way can it be claimed that GCW invaded his area.
