The lineup for tonight’s World Wrestling Entertainment’s SmackDown broadcast tonight, the first on MyNetwork, is as follows: an eight-man tag team match featuring Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Finlay & Batista versus Brian Kendrick, JBL, MVP, and Kane; Shelton Benjamin, Ron Killings, and Santino Marella in a three-way match; a handicap match with Chavo Guerrero versus Mark Henry & the Great Khali; Manu, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, Jr., versus Primo Colon, Carlito & CM Punk; Beth Phoenix versus Michelle McCool; and a three-way match featuring Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, and Triple H.

Tickets for the following WWE events go on sale tomorrow: November 4 in Orlando, FL, at the Amway Arena; November 17 in Atlanta, GA, at Philips Arena; November 25 in Albany, NY, at the Times Union Center; November 29 in State College, PA, at the Bryce Jordan Center; December 8 in Philadelphia, PA, at the Wachovia Center; December 30 in East Rutherford, NJ, at the Izod Center; and January 4 in Fort Myers, FL, at the Germain Arena.

Total Nonstop Action will be at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA, tonight. Advertised: Samoa Joe defends the TNA World Heavyweight Title against Booker T; Beer Money, Inc., with Jacqueline, defend the TNA World Tag Team Title against the Motor City Machine Guns; and Roxxi Laveaux versus Awesome Kong. TNA will be broadcasting iMPACT live from Las Vegas, NV, on October 23 at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Prime Time Pro Wrestling returns to the Event Center in Columbus, GA, tonight with the following advertised card: Frankie Valentine vs. Dustin Powers in a return challenge match. Adrian Hawkins vs. Kyle Matthews. Bulldog Raines vs. Rob Adonis as a follow up on last week's no contest finish. The Southside Trash puts their tag team titles on the line against The Brits (Simon Sermon & Thomas Britain). David Young vs. Jake Slater (with J. P. Money) in an Anything Goes Street Fight. In a PTPW Heavyweight Title Match, Chris Stevens vs. Champion Colt Derringer. Bell time is 7:30pm.

PTPW promoter Billy Roper joined me tonight for a PSP Fix on Thursday night. Roper mentioned that he took exception to some of Taylor McKnight’s comments on Tuesday’s edition of PSP Fix, and issued a challenge to Great Championship Wrestling. Click here to listen.

This is an outdoor show with a 6:00 bell time. Joe Scarpa had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Paul DeMarco on September 19, 1969, in Atlanta. The match between DeMarco and Scarpa was to face the NWA World Heavyweight Champion on October 10, 1969. The program for this card mentions the “Atlanta TV Wrestling” program for October 4, 1969, will air from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, but will return to its normal 10:30 to 11:30 PM slot the following week. Charlie Harben was credited as being a referee on this card. It was announced that Dory Funk, Jr., would be wrestling on the card on October 10, 1969, and that Nick Bockwinkel would be wrestling in Atlanta soon.

OCTOBER 3, 1970 (SATURDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WQXI STUDIOS (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Bobby Shane defeated Cisco Grimaldo > The Assassins defeated Eduardo DeLynch & El Mongol > Paul DeMarco defeated Karl Von Stroheim / Notes: This was taped for the “Atlanta TV Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. Homer O’Dell managed Karl Von Stroheim.

OCTOBER 3, 1970 (SATURDAY) Notes: The “Columbus Championship Wrestling” program moved from WTVM Channel 9 to WRBL Channel 3 on this date, with Jim Carlisle as the new host, replacing Jim Koger of WTVM. It was reported that when WTVM moved to a new location, the feed from the Columbus Sports Arena was not strong enough, so Fred Ward and Ralph Freed negotiated a deal with WRBL to carry the matches. Carlisle, who had no prior experience with the wrestling business, had also worked with WTVM previously, and at one time during the late 1960s hosted the highest rated local program in Columbus. Dubbed “Blast Off with V-Man,” Carlisle, working as the title character, the show had a science fiction theme, with the V-Man urging “peace to the universe.”
