World Wrestling Entertainment results from the ECW broadcast from San Diego, CA, on October 28: Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely over Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne & Finlay; and Jack Swagger over Tommy Dreamer.

Ring of Honor has announced a working relationship with the International Wrestling Syndicate, noting some of IWS’ talent will be working the ROH event in Montreal, PQ, on November 7. IWA will be sending in Dan Paysan, Exess, Stupefied, and the Green Phantom for the event. A match featuring Eddie Edwards versus Erick Stevens has also been added.

Brent Albright has been added to the ROH event in Dayton, OH, on November 21. Previously advertised: Kevin Steen & El Generico defend the ROH World Tag Team Title, and Chris Hero versus Roderick Strong in a lights out match.

OCTOBER 29, 1939 (SUNDAY) Notes: Tom McCarthy rented the Warren Arena from L.C. Warren. Warren had announced that he was retiring as his business was keeping him too busy to continue promoting wrestling. McCarthy renamed the venue as simply the Sports Arena, and picked up as the Atlanta promoter.

OCTOBER 29, 1941 (WEDNESDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WARREN ARENA (Abe Simon – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Lou Thesz versus Rudy Strongberg / Notes: This card was cancelled on October 28, 1941, when it was learned that Lou Thesz had been injured in an automobile accident.

OCTOBER 29, 1943 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM (Sammy Friedman – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > John Mauldin defeated Babe Etheridge > Jack Dillon and Don Lee wrestled to a draw > NWA World Heavyweight Title Match: Bill Longson* defeated Albert Mills / Notes: Bill Longson had been the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Bobby Managoff in St. Louis, MO, on February 19, 1943. This version was the one recognized by the National Boxing Association as the National Wrestling Association.

OCTOBER 29, 1965 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Don Carson defeated Billy Hines > Dutch Savage defeated Ken Hollis > Dick Steinborn defeated Roger Kirby > Buddy Fuller defeated Johnny Heidman > Mario Galento defeated Nick Kozak > $1,000 Challenge Match: Dale Lewis defeated Freddie Blassie / Notes: Dale Lewis put up $1,000 in the match with Freddie Blassie, betting he could not be pinned within the first thirty minutes. Although Blassie lost the match, he managed to open a gash in Lewis’ head that required stitches. The program for this card mentioned that Mario Galento and Dutch Savage were the new Southern Tag Team Champions, but offered no information on how or where they won the claim. The last reference we have shows Nick Kozak & Dick Steinborn defending the title against Savage & Lewis on October 8, 1965, in Atlanta. It also featured an advertisement for Nalley Chevrolet, located at 2555 Stewart Avenue, asking you to call referee Charlie Smith for “the best deal”.

Buddy Colt had been billed as the Georgia Heavyweight Champion since June 18, 1971. Rocket & Flash Monroe had said they were contemplating leaving if they could not defeat the Assassins. The Assassins had been billed as Georgia Tag Team Champions since August 13, 1971. El Mongol participated in an autograph session for fans.

OCTOBER 29, 1974 (TUESDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM (Ann Gunkel – Promoter / All-South Wrestling Alliance) > Battle Royal featuring Man Mountain Blackwell, Ray Candy, Carlos Colon, Charlie Cook, Super Soul Davis, Chief Bold Eagle, John Foley, Luke Graham, Cisco Grimaldo, the Missouri Mauler, El Mongol, Dick Steinborn, the Spider, Crusher Verdu, Jonathan Boyd, and Norman Charles > US Tag Team Title Brass Knuckles Match (No DQ / No TL): the Assassins* versus Angelo Poffo & Rock Hunter / Notes: No documented results for this card have been found. Paul Ellering was handcuffed to Brett Wayne during the match between Rhodes and Sawyer. Ellering managed Sawyer, Jake Roberts, and the Road Warriors.
