Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts News:

First 4 entrants into this year’s tournament announced

On February 8th, 2009 FIP will present the 2nd annual Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts tournament. This tournament was established to celebrate the rich history of wrestling in the state of Florida and the memory of its biggest pioneer and most successful promoter, the late, great Eddie Graham. FIP is pleased to announce the following men as the first 4 names announced as this year’s participants along with comments from each. We will announce the rest of the field in the weeks to come.

Nigel McGuiness- Ring of Honor World Champion-“I have no bloody idea who this old wanker Eddie Graham was, nor could I possibly care less. I am the best wrestler in the world, and until we all get very, very lucky, unfortunately the world still includes Florida and FIP, and so you can bet your last Euro that Nigel McGuiness will be there to do what I do better than anyone else in the world.”

Erick Stevens- FIP Tag Team Champion- “It was such an honor win the first annual Battle of the belts tournament and forever be remembered as the first ever winner. I can’t thank FIP enough for the chance to come back and win it again.

Roderick Strong- FIP Tag Team Champion- “I came so close to winning the last time against Erick that it ate at me for months. I really consider that night one of my great disappointments in my career. I plan on rectifying that this year.”

Chris Jones- FIP Florida Heritage Champion- “Just knowing that the belt I wear around my waist got it’s start in this tournament made me want to be a part of the tournament this year. As soon as I got the invite from the committee I accepted, and can’t wait for February 28th.

Tyler Black Speaks --- A few words from the Champ

FIP officials got a chance to catch up with World Heavyweight Champion Tyler Black last weekend in New York City after Ring of Honor’s Final Battle weekend shows. While Tyler was understandably in a bad mood following the weekend’s turn of events, he was gracious enough to reflect on his FIP Title win over Go Shiozaki on December 20th in Crystal River.

Tyler said,” I am obviously very proud of that win, and to wear this belt and represent FIP wherever I go. From my first day in FIP I set out to prove, not just to myself, or to Go Shiozaki, but to people everywhere that you can accomplish anything in life if you are willing to put your heart, your mind, and your soul into it. There is truly no limit to what a person can do if they believe in themselves. Don’t follow the crowd, don’t be a sheep.

Set your goals and make them happen. Don’t let others put limits on what you can accomplish, make your own way in life. I’ve always believed that if you follow a path you can’t see the landscape, but if you dare to dream, then anything can be possible.”
