Tonight’s edition of the NoseBleed Section, with hosts John ‘Stoney’ Cannon and Joe ‘Joco’ Cowart, presents a tongue-in-cheek look at the world of pro wrestling. Tonight’s guest is Ivan Koloff. The broadcast starts at 9:00 PM ET, and is brought to you by Georgia Wrestling History’s GWH Radio Network.
Peach State Pandemonium, hosted by Rich Tate and Les Thatcher, along with Tim Dix, was joined by NWA Anarchy promoter Jerry Palmer on Wednesday night to talk about the promotion and the upcoming camp scheduled for March, whereas Thatcher will be working with Anarchy and additional talent. Bobby Simmons also came in for a Wayback Machine segment, where stories were told of Ox Baker, Moondog Mayne, Bruiser Brody, and Jim Barnett. PSP is a presentation of the GWHRN. As announced on Wednesday’s edition of PSP, GWH’s Tim Dix will host a sports program beginning January 26. the Sports Buffet will feature news and information pertaining to professional sports in Atlanta and around Georgia, as well as the major in-state colleges, with a bit sprinkled in from all the major sports leagues. Dix has been co-hosting the PSP program since May 2008. The latest addition to the GWHRN will air each Monday night at 9:00 PM ET.
The final overall rating for Monday’s edition of World Wrestling Entertainment’s RAW was 3.9.
The final overall rating for the Tuesday edition of WWE’s ECW was 1.3.
WWE has announced the following events: March 21, RAW/ECW at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, KS; April 13, RAW at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA; May 11, RAW at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH; and May 19, SmackDown/ECW crew will be at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH.
Total Nonstop Action will be at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, tonight. Advertised: Samoa Joe, A.J. The nominees for the 81st presentation of the Academy Awards were announced this morning. The Wrestler received two nominations. Mickey Rourke was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, while Marisa Tomei is among the finalists for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on February 22 at 8:00 PM ET.
The All Pro Wrestling Alliance will be at the National Guard Armory in Newport, TN, on January 24. Advertised: Stan Lee defends the APWA Heavyweight Title against T.R. Superstar; in a return match, Robbie Race & Donovan Daniels versus the Death Row Inmates; and Michael Wayne versus Howie Gibson. Three other matches are slated, including midgets in action. JANUARY 22, 1920 (THURSDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – BIJOU THEATRE (J. Hume McDonald – Promoter) > Jack Ross versus Young Pardello / Notes: No documented results for this card have been found. J. Hume McDonald was a boxing promoter, who offered wrestling matches as preliminary events on his cards.
JANUARY 22, 1926 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM (John Contos – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Charles Rentrop defeated Harry Mamas > Jim Londos defeated Farmer McLeod / Notes: Jim Londos was declared the winner of his match when Farmer McLeod was deemed unable to continue. This was reportedly the first professional wrestling card to be held in Atlanta in nearly three years, but it appears to have been no more than just over a year according to our research. John Contos, who previously promoted professional wrestling in Memphis and St. Louis, wanted to revive the sport in Atlanta. There were also reportedly some boxing matches on this card, but they are not documented.
JANUARY 22, 1934 (MONDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – FAIR STREET ARENA (Jason Thompson – Promoter) > Young Londos defeated Red Dugan > Son Almand defeated Tarzan Jordan by disqualification (2-1) > Bill Crussell defeated Gorilla Tucker / Notes: This card also featured a battle royal between twelve boxers from the rival stables of Billy Hooper and Battling Moon, with Hooper’s fighters winning. It was reported that Governor Eugene Talmadge was in attendance.

The Mysterious Medics had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated Eddie Graham & Sam Steamboat on November 20, 1964, in Atlanta. Krusher Karlson was scheduled, but there was no mention in reports following the card. It was announced that Lou Thesz, Dick the Bruiser, and the Assassins would be wrestling in Atlanta soon.
