Jim Wilson Passes Away

Former-NFL-player-turned-pro-wrestler-turned-author Jim Wilson, 67, died of cancer on Monday.

In the 1970s, Wilson claimed, because he refused to give in to numerous demands of promoters (including sexual favors), to have been denied a run with the NWA World title and was eventually blacklisted from the sport.

In the 80s, Wilson publicly raised allegations on '20/20,' 'The Morton Downey Jr. Show,' and elsewhere, before teaming with Weldon T. Johnson in 2003, to pen 'Chokehold: Pro Wrestling's Real Mayhem Outside the Ring.'

The book was praised for containing a wealth of historical info, but criticized, among industry insiders, for containing nearly the same amount of fallacy.
