FIP Headlines For 3.11.09

-- FIP Wrestling

Tyler Black Health Update

Though FIP World Heavyweight Champion Tyler Black has been cleared to compete by ROH officials, his injured shoulder has not yet been deemed healthy enough to compete here in FIP by the Florida State Athletic Commission. Tyler is scheduled to have a check-up by orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews at HealthSouth’s Birmingham Alabama facility on Monday after this weekend’s ROH events in St.Louis and Indianapolis. The hope is the results of this exam will appease officials here in Florida that the structural damage in Tyler’s left shoulder has sufficiently healed enough to allow him back in the ring here in Florida in time for FIP’s event on March, 28th.

Said Black, “Well certainly it has been a very frustrating few weeks, but the shoulder is getting stronger every day, and I have had no ill effects since I got back inside the ring. I appreciate the fact that Larry, FIP and the commission down in Florida are looking out for my well-being, but right now I just want to get my hands on Davey Richards, get my belt back, and teach him and Sean Davis a lesson about what perseverance, overcoming the odds, and believing in yourself can accomplish.”

Florida Heritage Title match Signed for March, 28th!

Larry Zbyszko issued the following statement regarding Chris Jones and the Florida Heritage Title: “Upon winning the Florida Heritage Championship, Chris Jones vowed to be a fighting champion. He agreed to put the title on the line against any challenger that the FIP Championship Committee deemed worthy, and March 28th will be no exception. In Crystal River Chris Jones will defend the FIP Florida Heritage Title against “Addicted to Love” Rhett Titus”

We were able to reach the challenger immediately after the announcement, and Titus said, “Chris Jones? More like Chris Skin and Bones… Kid do you really think you are going to be any match for me on March 28th? You aren’t as good looking as Rhett Titus, you aren’t as genetically gifted as Rhett Titus, and you for damn sure can’t wrestle as well as Rhett Titus.”

“So Bones, shine up that belt real nice and enjoy your last few weeks with it, because after March 28th, I promise you this: As soon as I am done strapping that belt around my 28” waist, the first girl I see in Crystal River that is under 200 lbs and has all her teeth is gonna know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the thrust is a must, and my shoulders aren’t the only thing on me as hard as boulders, baby”

“Wildcat” Chris Harris makes his FIP debut March 28th!

It was not too long ago that Chris Harris was a man who seemingly had it all going for him in the wrestling business. He was a multi time NWA World Tag Team Champion, a star on a national weekly television show, and about to sign a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment. Fast forward 1 year and it is a much different man who comes to FIP Saturday March 28th, it is a man with renewed vigor, a hungry athlete determined to show the wrestling business he still has what it takes to compete at a high level.

“The last year of my career is one I would love to forget”, said Harris “but it’s also something that is driving me every day. To prove to the fans and to myself, that I am still the guy everyone remembers on national TV a year ago, that I still have what it takes to be a player in this business, and I am coming to FIP to do just that. To prove to everyone in Full Impact Pro, the fans at home and even myself that Chris Harris can still get the job done. I know the odds are stacked against me, but tomorrow’s a new day and I want to prove everyone wrong that Chris Harris isn’t done.”
