MMA Heavyweight Wounded In Fatal Shooting

I'm a little late with this, but Strikeforce's Lavar Johnson (fresh off of May's knockout of Carl Seumanutafa, which aired on Showtime) lost what I believe to be a brother and was himself shot in the abdomen, in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5.

Johnson was attending a family get-together in Bakersfield, California, when an assailant opened fire with a semiautomatic handgun, killing thirty-seven-year-old Anthony Mack Johnson and wounding four others, including Lavar (32), and Anthony's wife (thirty-five-year-old Chrystin Johnson).

Police described the injuries as minor-to-moderate, and are looking into the possibility of gang involvement, but no further information is known.

In the meantime, my condolences go out to Lavar and his family.
