With the New York State ban on mixed martial arts competition about to be lifted, the MMA WORLD EXPO is ushering in NYC's first conference and expo featuring educational sessions, live demonstrations, an exhibition hall and networking opportunities for the sport's growing legion of athletes, coaches and fans.
NEW YORK, Aug. 17 -- Mixed martial arts, the fastest growing sport in the world, takes its surging popularity to the Big Apple on October 24th & 25th at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Martial arts enthusiasts from around the world will gather in the nation's sports, fashion and financial capital for NYC's first-ever mixed martial arts expo & conference.
Live Presentations by Expert Athletes & Coaches
Martial arts masters from various disciplines will demonstrate their signature styles in front of an audience of fans and fellow athletes for 2 hours each exhibit day. Among the celebrity presenters will be Judo Legend, Jimmy Pedro; Jiu-Jitsu phenom, Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro; and Muay Thai Master, Kru Phil Nurse, displaying world class skills on the center mats for all to watch.
"While mixed martial arts competitions may be illegal in New York, the state boasts one of the nation's largest and most passionate groups of fans and athletes engaging in the sport," says Paul Paone, MMA WORLD EXPO founder and director. "And our event will give them the chance to see up close and personal some of the sport's best showcasing their talents."
Educational Sessions
Offering education about the sport, in fact, is one of the key goals of the MMA WORLD EXPO. On tap for the weekend event are 18 educational sessions, which will appeal to a broad range of attendees -- from those just discovering the sport's excitement to experienced athletes. "We also hope state legislators will pay a visit to attend our classes -- and come to realize that this is a healthy form of competition, enjoyed by a wide spectrum of state residents -- and that the ban on competitions should be removed as quickly as possible," added Paone.
One of the educational highlights, in fact, is a panel discussion entitled, "The Future of MMA," which will include representation from the New York State Athletic Commission, discussing the road to the sport's legalization. Mixed martial arts training and business seminars will also be offered and will include topics on: Mindfulness and Martial Arts, Nutrition for the MMA Fighter, Gi versus No-Gi Training, Injuries: Prevention & Treatment, Preparing to Compete, How to Market Your MMA School or Gym, Proven Strategies to Increase Online MMA Sales, How to Expand Your Product Line Internationally and more.
Affordable and Accessible
"We also designed the show to be as affordable and value-packed as possible," said Paone. "With general admission ticket prices at just $20 per day, we are removing any financial barriers for our attendees. And locating the show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in midtown Manhattan means accessibility to millions by public transportation alone--not to mention, we are reachable within 30 minutes of 3 international airports for out-of-town guests."
MMA Marketplace
Designed for both on-the-spot-sales and business-to-business interaction, the MMA WORLD EXPO will feature an exhibit hall filled with vendors representing virtually all aspects of martial arts products and supplies. Business-only hours for wholesale buyers are scheduled for the first 2 hours of each day followed by 7 hours of consumer exhibit time. Meet with representatives from Combat Sports, MET-Rx, Everlast, Zebra Mats, Ring-to-Cage, Vitamin Shoppe, Respek, Dymatize, Defense Soap, New York Fighting Championship and American Top Team to name just a few.
"Whether you've been involved with martial arts for years, or are just experiencing its extraordinary appeal, the MMA WORLD EXPO is designed to help you learn about new products and strategies that will help elevate your performance and knowledge," said Paone and added, "The event's goal is to create a unique forum for martial arts practitioners to exchange ideas, best practices and to assist in ultimately pushing the sport of mixed martial arts into mainstream acceptance."
