Action at its best with five-fight deal for 2008

The Maximum Fighting Championship found a perfect home in the River Cree Resort and Casino.

And now the relationship is a long-lasting strong bond.

The MFC and River Cree Resort and Casino have agreed to a deal which will see five MFC fight cards at the Resort's new Events Centre in 2008. The first show in the new affiliation will take place on February 22, 2008 with MFC 15: Rags to Riches. The main event and featured bouts will be announced shortly.

Just as the UFC has entrenched itself with long-term relationships in such places as the MGM Grand and the Mandalay Bay, the MFC is pleased to be involved with a first-class venue that has such a vibrant atmosphere. Through this allegiance, the River Cree Resort and Casino has determined that the MFC, one of the North America's fastest-rising mixed martial arts organizations, will be the exclusive source of MMA excitement in its Events Centre.

"We are ecstatic with this agreement and we are very excited about what the new year will bring for both the MFC and River Cree," said Mark Pavelich, Owner/President of the Maximum Fighting Championship.

"Our first two shows at the River Cree Resort and Casino were both sold out. In fact, our second show - MFC 14: High Rollers - was sold out nearly a whole month in advance. The combination of our top fighters, the energy from the fans, and the excitement level in Casino made for two of best shows in the MFC's history. And the response for tickets for MFC 15: Rags to Riches has been incredible so we are expecting a third great show at River Cree."

"The River Cree Resort and Casino and the Maximum Fighting Championship are two dynamic organizations so it is a natural fit that we are linked in a strong partnership," said Michael Heeb, Vice-President and General Manager of the River Cree Resort and Casino, which is located just outside Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The MFC held its first show at the River Cree Resort and Casino on August 24, 2007 - MFC Lucky 13 - and on that night, Roger Hollett was crowned new world light heavyweight champion with a lightning-quick stoppage of Victor Valimaki. Lucky 13 recently aired on Viewer's Choice pay-per-view and is also available on DVD.

MFC 14: High Rollers took place on November 23, 2007 and that show saw two young stars keep their undefeated streaks intact. In the main event, Brad Zazulak made short work of UFC veteran Shonie Carter, and welterweight sensation Ryan Ford stayed perfect with a dominating TKO win over Mike Sorensen. MFC 14 will be airing on Viewer's Choice and Bell ExpressVu pay-per-view in early 2008.

As well, the MFC will make its first venture into the United States in '08 with negotiations already under way with a major American casino/hotel chain.

"The MFC will continue to bring our great fans the most action-packed fight cards with fighters that those fans care about seeing," added Pavelich. "We have developed our own stars like Roger Hollett and Ryan Ford and we are building future stars like Jason Kuchera and Ryan Heck.

"The MFC has proven itself time and time again to be a front-runner with a formula for success and we will be doing it for many years to come."
