Vince McMahon Gets His Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 18, 2008 -- Under a sun as blazing as the spotlight in center ring, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon joined the pantheon of entertainment greats by receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this past Friday for his achievements in television and pay-per-view. A crowd of nearly 1,000 well wishers and WWE insiders were on hand to witness the occasion. They included Leron Gubler, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who hosted the ceremony; Bob Cook, President of Twentieth Television; and Paul Franklin, Executive Vice President of MyNetwork TV, which recently acquired rights to air the hit WWE series, "WWE SmackDown."

Supported by family members - his wife, Linda, WWE CEO, son Shane, Executive Vice President, Global Media, and son-in-law, WWE Superstar Triple H(r), -- Vince humbly accepted his star on behalf of the WWE Superstars and fans. "Most importantly, I'd like to thank me," McMahon then said, shifting into the Mr. McMahon persona familiar to the public, and drawing cheers. "All those thank you's I said a few minutes ago, I didn't mean a word of it. I'm not really so sure what this award means. It's a star. I already know I'm a star. I'm the biggest star in the whole planet.

"They're going to put this star on the sidewalk where people walk. You realize how many people in this world wanted to walk on me, how many wanted to step on me? Now they're going to step on my star. There are going to be people lined up around the block and take their heels and rub it on my star. And God forbid they're going to be walking a dog at the same time."

"I guess I can sum all this up by stating what a true honor this is for me to have my star placed right next to Kermit the Frog. That says it all!"
