Galento had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Sputnik Monroe on November 13, 1964, in Atlanta. The Corsicans had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated Buddy Fuller & Jesse James on April 16, 1965, in Atlanta. In the program for this card, there is a mention of Ray McCay, who was now the owner of the Dixie Inn Motel in Panama City, FL, with an address where fans could write him in Laguna Beach, FL. There was also an advertisement for WAIA 1570 AM radio, stating that Ken Rogers and future Atlanta ring announcer Jim Bell were playing the “Cream of Country Music across Atlanta”. It was announced that Bob Dalton, Kurt Von Steiger, the Mysterious Medics, and Kurt & Karl Von Brauner would be wrestling on the card on May 21, 1965.
