SOUTHEASTERN WRESTLING NEWS, NOTES, AND NOSTALGIA: 11/03/2008

NEWS and NOTES

The crew from Georgia Wrestling History will bring you the most up-to-date information on events in and around Georgia and beyond tonight at 9:30 PM ET. We encourage you to call in at (347) 324-5735 and participate in a PSP Fix. AWA World-1 South promoter Jody Peterman also joins us to preview the W1S event on November 8 in Ellaville, GA.

Our primary show, Peach State Pandemonium, returns to the airwaves on November 5, hosted by Rich Tate and Les Thatcher, with Tim Dix providing additional commentary. It will be considered a free-for-all open discussion on all things wrestling. Bobby Simmons, Larry Goodman and Dan Masters will also join us. Feel free to call in and join in, share your opinions, ask questions, etc., by calling (347) 324-5735. We want our program to be more fan friendly, and we look forward to any and all comments, whether it’s about Georgia wrestling past or present, WWE, TNA, ROH, etc. The show begins at 9:00 PM ET.

World Wrestling Entertainment’s RAW crew will be at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, FL, tonight. Advertised: Batista defends the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Chris Jericho in a cage match; and Shawn Michaels & Triple H versus John Morrison & the Miz. Mae Young may also be appearing. Although this is being plugged as the 800th episode of RAW, it is actually the 806th edition, according to Dave Meltzer. Mike Johnson is reporting that Golddust has re-signed with WWE, and is in Tampa.

Total Nonstop Action results from Bakersfield, CA, on November 2: Consequences Creed over Sonjay Dutt and Hiroshi Tanahashi in a three-way match; the Latin American Xchange over the Prince Justice Brotherhood; Awesome Kong over Roxxi Laveaux to retain the TNA Women’s Title; Samoa Joe over Kurt Angle; Beer Money over Team 3D to retain the TNA World Tag Team Title; and A.J. Styles over Christian Cage.

For what was called budget cuts, TNA recently released Simon Diamond and Disco Inferno, who had been working as agents for the company.

GWH wishes a happy birthday to Dawn Marie (1970), Jackie Gayda (1980 or 1981), and Yvon Cormier.

Today in Memoriam: Evan ‘Strangler’ Lewis (59, 1919), El Gran Davis (57, 1991), and Sputnik Monroe (77, 2006).

Monday Night Mayhem will feature Chris Sabin tonight at 8:00 PM ET. Also joining the MNM crew will be actress Erin Murphy, who is appearing on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling program.

Jerkin’ the Curtain will not broadcast a show tonight. They will return next week.

Nick Hammonds & Wayne Adkins went to a time limit draw with Chase Owens & Alyx Winters in a #1 Contenders Match. CW Commissioner Clarence Clippenback ruled that due to the result of this match, both teams would face US Tag Team Champions, KMF Inc., in a 3-Way Match. Bobby Eaton defeated Eric Steele. Eric Darkstorm defeated Cody Ices. Moe Jenkins & Brian Phoenix defeated The 420 Hit Squad by count out. Moe's original partner Beau James abandoned Moe shortly after the match started. The ref allowed Phoenix to take Beau's place. US Tag Champions, KMF Inc., defeated Wayne Adkins & Nick Hammonds and Chase Owens & Alyx Winters in a 3-Way Tag Match. National Heavyweight Champion Robbie Cassidy defeated Mr. Bolo.

Enrique & Alberto Torres managed Lou Thesz & Mr. Wrestling. Jack Crawford managed El Mongol & Oki Yama. The program for this card featured a photo of Butcher Vachon and a masked man, with text from Vachon stating that this should prove he and Yama were not the same person. The mask the man wore in the photo was different than the one that fans were accustomed to seeing on Yama.
