Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts News

Next 2 entrants into this year’s tournament announced

On February 8th, 2009 FIP will present the 2nd annual Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts tournament. This tournament was established to celebrate the rich history of wrestling in the state of Florida and the memory of its biggest pioneer and most successful promoter, the late, great Eddie Graham. FIP is pleased to announce the following men as the next 2 names announced as this year’s participants along with comments from each. We will announce the last 2 entrants in the weeks to come.

Davey Richards—Former ROH World Tag Team Champion—“I am no stranger to FIP and the fans of Florida ... But the Davey Richards they saw the last time I was there no longer exists. I am stronger, faster and more deadly than I have ever been, and there is no doubt just who is going to win this tournament. Me.”

El Generico—ROH World Tag Team Champion—El Generico’s translator was unavailable at press time, but the Generic Luchador was able to able to respond with “OLE~!” when asked of his chances in this year’s tournament.

Sean Davis Obsessed with Tyler Black’s Demise—Offers a Bounty?

FIP officials got a chance to catch up with Sean Davis this week, and the leader of Heartbreak Enterprises had quite a lot on his mind, most notably FIP World Champion Tyler Black.

“Tyler Black wants to sit there and talk about change, about following your own path and making things happen in life. It frankly makes me sick, and I think that punk is a disgrace to the FIP belt. You wanna know what makes things happen Tyler? It sure isn’t hoping and dreaming about it, it’s money….Cold, hard cash, and to prove that point I have officially put a bounty on the head of Tyler Black.”

“That’s right; twenty five thousand dollars to the first man who can take the FIP title from around your waist and send you to the hospital. How’s that for a path, Champ? I’ve already gotten calls from wrestlers all over the world looking to come to FIP and take me up on my offer. One call intrigued me though, and it certainly will intrigue you too Tyler, but you’ll have to wait until I’m good and ready for you to find out just who it is. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!”

Tyler Black to make first defense at Battle of the Belts

FIP World Champion Tyler Black has signed an open contract to make his first defense at this year’s Battle of the Belts. His opponent at this time is not known.

Larry Zbyszko, executive Director of the FIP Championship Committee stated that, “the committee received a signed open contract from Mr. Black immediately following his win over Go Shiozaki. Attached to the contract was a note saying simply that he would defend this belt against anyone we deemed suitable to be a challenger, from anywhere in the wrestling world. He was determined to show that he is a fighting champion and would not hide behind his belt. We are currently reviewing a list of potential challengers for Mr. Black and hope to have his opponent announced shortly.”

FIP Stars make their way to Ring of Honor

FIP officials are proud to announce that the Heartbreak Assassins of Chris Escobar and Damien Wayne have been signed to compete this weekend at Ring of Honor events in Manassas, Virginia, and Edison, New Jersey. ROH President Cary Silken was impressed with the pair following their match in Melbourne on December 19th and has given them an opportunity to show fans in ROH what they are capable of.

ROH officials have also confirmed that FIP will be represented at Ring of Honor’s Florida double shot weekend as well. ROH will debut in Coral Springs on February 6th at the Coral Springs Gymnasium and will return to Orlando on February 7th at the Downtown Recreation Complex. We look forward to announcing which FIP talents will be appearing shortly. For more information and ticket availability be sure to check out rohwrestling.com
