Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts News

Last 2 entrants into this year’s tournament announced

On February 8th, 2009 FIP will present the 2nd annual Eddie Graham Memorial Battle of the Belts tournament. This tournament was established to celebrate the rich history of wrestling in the state of Florida and the memory of its biggest pioneer and most successful promoter, the late, great Eddie Graham. FIP is pleased to announce the following men as the final 2 participants along with comments from each. We will announce the bracketing in the next few days.

Austin Aries—Former ROH World Champion—“It has been a while since Austin Aries has been in FIP, and it’s because the people in FIP were amongst the first to turn their backs on me. Well I’m coming back, but this time, it’s for me.”

Necro Butcher—IWA Mid-South Death Match Champion—“I came close to winning the FIP Tag Titles, I came close to winning the FIP World Title, and now I am back and this time I won’t settle for coming close to winning, I will be the Battle of the Belts Champ, because I got a family back home, and they need the money that comes with me winning. I don’t care who I am in there with, 3 guys are getting knocked out.”

Sean Davis Obsessed with Tyler Black’s Demise—more clues?

FIP officials were again contacted by Sean Davis regarding his vendetta against FIP World Champion Tyler Black.

“So Tyler, you’ve had a week to sit home and wonder just who is coming for you… Are you nervous yet? Is it sinking in that your reign in FIP is going to be over as soon as it starts and there’s nothing you can do about it?

Well you’d better be nervous, or at least you would be if you knew what I knew…

That someone who knows you very well is coming for you Tyler. Someone who stood by your side, someone who did battle alongside you, someone who fought for what you once fought for…

February 8th the lights go out on Tyler Black…for good”

FIP World Champion Tyler Black said this when told of Davis’ comments:

“Sean it doesn’t matter who you bring in from my past, who you pay off to try and take me out, because I proved that I belong. I proved that anything in life you believe in enough can be reached, any path you take in life will lead you to your dreams if you are willing to believe in yourself. It's not easy to go down the gravel, signless road. It's not easy to figure things out on your own, but when you do, the possibilities are endless.

And as endless as the possibilities are in life, one thing is certain, after Battle of the Belts is over, I will still be the FIP World Heavyweight Champion, because I believe in me, and once again Sean when I’m done, you will too.”

Shimmer Women’s Championship to be defended at Battle of the Belts

We announced last time that MsChif would be defending the Shimmer Women’s Championship at Battle of the Belts versus Mercedes Martinez. Both competitors have declined interview requests leading up to this important matchup, so allow us to give you the skinny on this all important matchup.

This is the 2nd time the Shimmer title has been defended here in FIP.

This is MsChif’s 7th defense of the title she won last year from Sara Del Rey

Mercedes Martinez is currently undefeated in FIP, and for that reason Shimmer officials granted her the title match here.

This matchup is a rematch from Shimmer Volume 20 which saw MsChif successfully defend her title in Berwyn, Illinois

FIP Stars continue to make their way to Ring of Honor

ROH officials have also confirmed that FIP will be represented at Ring of Honor’s Florida double shot weekend as well. ROH will debut in Coral Springs on February 6th at the Coral Springs Gymnasium and will return to Orlando on February 7th at the Downtown Recreation Complex.

In addition to the already announced ROH talent for February 6th & February 7th in Florida , ROH is going to give an opportunity to some of the standout local talent from the Sunshine State. Shawn Osborne, Brad Attitude, the Dark City Fight Club of Jon Davis & Kory Chavis, as well as The British Lions (Chris Gray & Tommy Taylor) will be given an opportunity to shine in Coral Springs & Orlando, and potentially earn a spot on the ROH roster!
