UFC 94 Fully Interactive 3-D Microsite Features Fighter Analysis, Interviews, and Highlight Reels

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® has launched the official site for UFC 94: ST-PIERRE VS. PENN 2, featuring the UFC® welterweight championship main event between champion Georges St-Pierre and UFC lightweight champion and welterweight challenger BJ Penn live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 31. In what many say is the greatest mixed martial arts matchup of all time, former UFC welterweight champion BJ Penn, who dropped a controversial split decision to St-Pierre in their first matchup, looks to become the first fighter in history to hold two UFC belts at the same time. The fully interactive 3-D Microsite http://94.ufc.com provides all the angles, all the analysis and answers all the questions that mixed martial arts fans want to know.

The UFC 94 event website (http://94.ufc.com) was developed in Flash using the most current techniques for coding, video integration and design. While the site contains such things as an interactive fight card and in-depth videos about the two main bouts, a primary goal of the site was to give fans a detailed look into the featured bout of the night: St-Pierre vs. Penn 2.

To prepare for the creation of the site, St-Pierre and Penn participated in a video shoot to ensure that the site would have exclusive content. Each of them were shot on green screen, which allows the resulting video footage to be seamlessly integrated within the site experience. The captured footage included interview questions, shadow boxing and more. To showcase the video and written content within the site, three site sections were created for each fighter, namely Interview, Analysis and History. Unique backgrounds and environments were designed for each fighter, such as a Hawaii setting for Penn and Montreal for St-Pierre. The end result is an immersive experience that gives fans an in-depth look at the two UFC champions.

The interview footage, for example, was used to create an interactive section that allows users to choose from a list of questions and watch St-Pierre and Penn address the viewer directly, all in front of their unique backdrops. The Analysis sections are divided into “Ground Game” and “Standup Game,” which grants a unique perspective on every facet of their fight games. Finally, there’s the History sections, which recap the UFC fight histories of each mixed martial artist. Presented as a series of newspaper clippings, this interactive timeline draws fans deeper into the back stories that lead all the way up to this historic upcoming event.

In addition to the in-depth look into these two bouts, the site includes profiles of the other fighters on the UFC 94 card including: Thiago Silva vs. Lyoto Machida, Jon Jones vs. Stephan Bonnar, Dong Hyun Kim vs. Karo Parisyan, Clay Guida vs. Nate Diaz, Akihiro Gono vs. Jon Fitch, Thiago Tavares vs. Manvel Gamburyan, John Howard vs. Chris Wilson, Christian Wellisch vs. Jake O’Brien and Dan Cramer vs. Matt Arroyo.

UFC 94: ST-PIERRE VS. PENN 2 will be available live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network, TVN, Bell ExpressVu, Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $44.95 for standard definition or high-definition broadcasts (where available). Tickets for UFC 94: ST-PIERRE vs. PENN 2 are SOLD OUT.
