Also on the card, boxing and MMA sensation KJ Noons (7-2) squares off against Andre "Dida" Almade (6-3-1).

"Only on HDNet will you see the return of Josh Barnett and KJ Noons to MMA action," said Andrew Simon CEO of HDNet Fights. "These two were among the best in their weight classes before their hiatuses – Barnett was a top 5 Heavyweight and KJ was the last guy to stop Nick Diaz! Also, Fernandes v Hansen should be classic."

Gorgeous George Enters Hall Of Fame

Source - World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.:

STAMFORD, Conn., Mar 15, 2010 -- World Wrestling Entertainment® (NYSE: WWE) today announced that Gorgeous George, the man often credited with creating American pop culture and who set the standard for future WWE Superstars and influenced such greats as Muhammad Ali, James Brown and Bob Dylan, will be inducted into the WWE® Hall of Fame on March 27, 2010. His 96 year-old former wife, Betty Wagner will accept the honor on his behalf. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be broadcast that night on USA Network at 11 PM ET from the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Gorgeous George’s was a pop-culture innovator who took risks pushing the social envelope and did things that no other performer had ever dared to do,” said CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon. “He was a cultural tour-de-force who set the standard that many in the world of sports and entertainment still emulate today.”

The significance of Gorgeous George’s legacy led WWE Studios to option the rights to his story for a major motion picture slated to begin production in 1Q 2011.

Muhammad Ali, whose notorious boastful and arrogant style derived from George, stated, “I made up my mind after meeting Gorgeous George to make people angry at me...I saw 15,000 people comin’ to see this man get beat. And his talking did it. I said this is a good idea.”

Bob Dylan, the music poet, said, “A mighty spirit. Crossing paths with Gorgeous George, was all the recognition and encouragement I would need for years to come.”

Gorgeous George, born George Wagner, single-handedly changed the dynamics of not only wrestling, but entertainment and sports in the 1940s-1950s. His character was an arrogant aristocrat dressed in silk, lace and chiffon robes who spoke in a braggadocio style, often referring to himself as “The Toast of the Coast” and “The Sensation of the Nation.” Audiences around the country came to see Gorgeous George perform live, and tuned their TV sets in to see what he would say or do next, making Gorgeous George one of the biggest celebrities of his day, and an influence on pop culture for generations to come. As popular as Lucille Ball and Bob Hope, media observers believe more Americans purchased televisions to watch Gorgeous George perform than to see Milton Berle.

Others to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame on March 27 include Ted “The Million Dollar Man” DiBiase Sr., former Women’s Champion Wendi Richter, Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon and Japanese legend Antonio Inoki.

It can be found on pay-per-view television, as well as in thousands of training halls across the United States.

Company CEO Michael DeAmicis stated, “Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. ActionView International, Inc. Announces First Main Bout For April 3rd World Championship Full Contact (WCFC) Event

Source - ActionView International:

WCFC Commercial is Scheduled to Run This Weekend on Versus Network

MURRIETA, Calif., March 5, 2010 -- ActionView International, Inc. (Pink Sheets:AVEW) and its wholly-owned MatchFights subsidiary today announced one of the two main bouts schedule for the inaugural World Championship Full Contact (WCFC) live event on April 3, 2010 at The Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. One main bout will feature Jordan "They Call Me Mr." Smith, who appeared as a contestant on the recent Season 11 of UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter" show on Spike TV, fighting against "The Slim Shady of MMA" Nick Rossborough, who has also appeared on the "The Ultimate Fighter" show, in a middleweight contest.

A 30-second WCFC commercial will be in rotation on the Versus network, starting this weekend during the live WEC MMA event.

Jordan Smith, from Kaysville, Utah, fights out of the One Hit MMA gym in Clearfield, Utah. He comes into this fight with a professional record of 10 wins, 1 defeat and 1 draw. Smith started fighting shortly after his college football career ended because he needed another outlet for his anger and aggression and had always been interested in testing himself in the pure sport of fighting. He was an all-state middle linebacker and first team all-conference guard in high school and received an athletic scholarship to play football at McKendree University in Illinois.

In MMA, Smith won the Michigan Fight League light heavyweight belt as an amateur, the Max Fighting League Middleweight Belt in Yakima, Washington and the Throwdown Light-Heavyweight Belt as a professional. He credits the three main trainers at One Hit MMA gym, Aldo Oreggia, Jessie Pedilla, and Gustavo Rodriguez, for his success. Smith was a contestant on the recent Season 11 of UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter" show on Spike TV. He says that his experience on the show was great, and he is hungrier than ever to step back inside the cage for the WCFC event.

"Nick Rossborough is a tough dude and wants nothing more to finish me in highlight fashion, but with my training and experience, I plan on walking out of that cage with my hand held high," said Smith.

Nick Rossborough, who fights out of the Elite Performance gym in Salt Lake City, started his professional mixed martial arts career at the age of 23. When he first stepped into the cage to fight, he had minimal training and knowledge, and at the time he felt that just getting in the cage was the best way to start. After about two years of "on-the-job training," Rossborough decided that finding a MMA trainer was the only way he would excel in the sport. On his quest to find the best trainer in Utah, Nick came across one of the most well known names in the sport, Jeremy Horn. After only two years training with Jeremy, Nick has fought and beat many top-notch fighters, won championship belts including the PFC Middleweight title, and made an appearance on Season 7 of "The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV.

Rossborough, who comes into this contest with an 18-11 record, will be the first one to say how he is just beginning, and how he intends to continuously improve his game until he reaches his goal of becoming the best-known MMA fighter in his weight class. It will be no surprise to soon find Rossborough as a legitimate contender in the UFC.

"The Smith versus Rossborough bout is expected to be one of the most exciting fights of the evening, and we are looking forward to these warriors putting on a great show for our live and Internet audiences," said Johnny Riche, head of LBH Productions, which will produce the April 3rd event. "Having fighters of this caliber is going to help WCFC raise its profile and attract fans in the MMA community. We expect to announce the other main bout and the rest of the fight card next week."

Gary Nerison, Chairman of ActionView International, stated, "I also wanted to address the recent trading activity of ActionView International stock. We are pleased to have experienced an increase in activity and wanted to let our shareholders know that despite the stepped up trading volume, there has been no change to the number of issued and outstanding shares of the company's common stock since it was last publicly reported. We do expect to continue to generate interest as our April 3rd event approaches and we stage what is anticipated to be a very successful show."

Fight fans, fighters, promoters, trainers and ring girls are encouraged to visit the WCFC website at www.wcfc.com to set up a personal profile and join the first and only comprehensive content driven MMA web community dedicated to fighting. The site harnesses the power of social networks, allowing users to connect and share information about their favorite fighters, fights and events. A comprehensive marketing program is being implemented which is expected to result in the www.wcfc.com becoming the dominant fighting website in the world and draw consumers for WCFC events broadcast over the Internet.

Shareholders and anyone interested in monitoring the progress of the company are encouraged to subscribe to the electronic mailing list at www.actionviewint.com.

Alan Wojcik Reviews Vince Russo's Rope Opera

http://alanwojcik.com

Ten years ago the wrestling landscape was absolutely amazing. You had three different promotions running America; Extreme Championship Wrestling, the then called World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. Just think about that, 3 promotions running all over America with millions of fans. Each had a national television program (WCW on TNT/TBS, WWE on USA & UPN and ECW on TNN.) One man had a hand in the creative direction of two of those companies over the past years; you probably know his name from the people who chant it preceded by the word FIRE. His name is Vince Russo and he is back to talk about his jump from WWF to WCW in his new book ROPE OPERA: HOW WCW KILLED VINCE RUSSO ($19.95, ECW Press, 240pp.)

When we last left our hero Mr. Russo in his first book FORGIVEN: ONE MAN’S JOURNEY FROM SELF-GLORIFICATION TO SANCTIFICATION (also available from ECW Press), he was working for WWF with his writing partner (current in TNA Wrestling as well) Ed Ferrera. WWF was gaining traction on WCW which had destroyed WWF in the ratings for near 90 weeks straight (find Eric Bischoff’s book for the other side of things) when a funny thing happened to Russo & Ferrera. Vince McMahon dropped what is now called Friday Night Smackdown in their laps. Already physically and mentally drained from their schedule of writing and travelling, Russo & Ferrera made some demands for the new show. During the negotiating Russo got the shock of a lifetime when he told McMahon he wanted to move his family closer to his wife’s family since he hardly saw them and it would be good for them. McMahon said, “With the money you’re asking for why don’t you just go ahead and hire a nanny.” According to Russo that was all he needed to make the call and become the new writer of WCW after Bischoff had been sent home (like I said find Bischoff’s book.)

This book covers everything you wanted to know about Vince’s time in WCW and the hell it created on him mentally and physically (hence the title of the book.) He covers the backstage politicking from day one he and Ferrera were up against, the Hulk Hogan-Bash at the Beach “shoot”, plus dealing with established stars like Sting, Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Scot Hall and Bill Goldberg. Russo holds what appears to be nothing back in how he felt when he was told after only THREE months the plug was being pulled on his work and he would have to join a booking committee. He is also honest in people’s assertion that he alone “killed” WCW. Interesting parts were to read how he handled the closing of WCW and a one –time trip to WWE to see McMahon and how creative was handled in his absence. Lastly Russo covers the tenure with his on and off employer since 2002, TNA Wrestling and his friendship with Jeff Jarrett and his late wife Jill. In case you’re dying to know the book ends in October 2009 when TNA announced they were bringing in Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

Many people probably are expecting me to hate this book since I covered TNA from 2002-2007 and I have never been a fan of Russo’s wrestling writing. But its hard to hate this book because to be honest he is better at writing a book then he is writing a wrestling program. The only problem with this book and I feel with FORGIVEN is Russo’s embracing of religion. I am not religious but reading those two books back to back (plus watching a shoot interview with Russo/Ferrera done by Wade Keller I recommend from www.bvdvd.com) I kept looking around my seat expecting a collection plate in front of me. I have no issue with one’s religion, but don’t shove them down my throat. I believe Mr. Russo has a fan page on www.facebook.com that you can chat with him, just search his name. Thanks for reading as I’m sure Russo and TNA won’t be.

Alan Wojcik Interview: Former WWE Star Eric "Escobar" Perez

http://alanwojcik.com
OWW Radio

Alan Wojcik: What were the circumstances that led to you getting a tryout and eventually a developmental deal with WWE? Talk about the tryout experience so others can learn what to do right.

Eric Perez: I was working for WWC in Puerto Rico we had a show the day before the New Year’s Revolution PPV in PR and on that show I got busted open in the back of the head and had a small fracture on my right shoulder 15 seconds into the match, they sent referees out there telling me to stop it and I said no. I wrestled for 15 minutes (not a smart move…lol) but I did it. After the show I went to the hospital to get it taken care of. At around 3am I had already paid but no stitches or service for that matter so I decided to go home. I woke up at around 8am drove to the hospital…again. Talked to whoever was at the counter, explained what happened and they stitch me up. After I got out of the hospital I had 3 voicemails from the WWC office telling me I had an interview with WWE officials at the PPV. I went there got interviewed and eventually got a try out at DSW.

Alan Wojcik: You were part of the now defunct Deep South Wrestling developmental promotion run with Joey Hamilton. Talk about the DSW experience and why do you think DSW was transferred to Florida Championship Wrestling?

Eric Perez: It was a very good experience, I had never been properly trained at the time all I did was learned the basic bumps and the rest I did what is called “on the job training” you learn as you go basically very old school very good way of training. So everything was new to me but I picked up fast and learned a lot from Bill DeMott and Jody Hamilton.

Alan Wojcik: During 2006 you were part of two successful tag teams. The first with current Raw superstar Montel Vontavious Porter and the second was with Sonny Siaki (Urban Assault.) Talk about them as partners and as people.

Eric Perez: They are both very good performers very talented in their own way. MVP has been US champ and tag champ in the WWE and Siaki was X division champ in TNA. As people MVP is a man who stands his ground in what he believes is right not only for business but for himself as well. Siaki was a bit more selfish when it came to doing business.

Alan Wojcik: Did WWE help the talent in any way moving from suburban Atlanta to suburban Tampa and talk about the adjustment to a different climate?

Eric Perez: Yes they did. They took care of everyone’s lease and they gave us money for expenses to move. I adapt to wherever I go. The only thing that I liked about GA is that it was convenient everything was a walking distance in FL everything was a drive, but I think I did ok in both places.

Alan Wojcik: Describe a day at the FCW training facility and what roles do Dr. Tom Pritchard, Steve Keirn, Billy Kidman and other play in the company?

Eric Perez: At first we worked out in a baseball facility, we got kicked out from there the little kids were not paying attention to their baseball coaches and paying too much attention to the wrestling. Then we moved to a warehouse it was hot, and dirty but Steve Keirn would be on top of that all the time because he didn’t like dirty places so he was always cleaning as well as directing traffic when it came to the training itself. Dr Tom was always paying attention to detail in everything we did in the ring, showing us how and when to do stuff as well as telling us how to apply different rules to every situation and keeping us up to date in what new rules WWE had…He also got in the ring and worked a 1hr Broadway (time limit draw) with Heath Slater, that was impressive. Billy was teaching us how to apply holds as well as teaching to whoever was interested in learning high flying moves. When Norman Smiley came on board he took over teaching the holds (I mean Norman has forgotten more holds that some people will ever learn) Dusty came on board later to run the TV and work with promos (who better that him for that)…It is very good environment that some people did not appreciate because they don’t know what is like to be in other places.

Alan Wojcik: During your FCW run you were part of a successful tag team with Primo Colon, becoming the 1st FCW Tag Team champions. What made that team successful and why weren’t you brought to the main roster when he debuted with his brother Carlito?

Eric Perez: It was successful because we had chemistry plus we used to tag in PR and I have no idea why I was not put in the mix with both of them or just with him for that matter…

Alan Wojcik: Over your time with WWE you have had numerous valets/manager including Miss Angela Fong, Shantelle, G-Rilla and Armando Alejandro Estrada. What do you feel the valet/manager role in a wrestling match?

Eric Perez: They have many roles, so it all depended on what they have to do for the match. Sometimes they just put a hot chick in there to be kind of a flower to make things look better, sometimes is to just talk crap to get more heat for the guy who is working. All the managers and or valets that I have had I always wanted them to be or do something special as long as they recognize what they have to do and don’t try to take the attention for them everything will work out great.

Alan Wojcik: At one point you went from Eric Perez to Eric Escobar. Was that an office decision or something you did on your own and why was it done?

Eric Perez: We wrote like 5 lists of 10 names each that we liked we sent them to the office and they picked…Thank God I picked cool names all across the board.

Alan Wojcik: During your time in FCW numerous talent members were brought to the main roster including Ted DiBiase, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Trent Berretta, Tyson Kidd, Ezekiel Jackson and Dolph Ziggler. At any point did you question yourself about your status with the company?

Eric Perez: Not really, because every time I spoke to writers, agents and the office themselves they said everything was good meaning in ring work, promos, attitude, etc., but they just haven’t found the right spot to put me in the mix, so I just did my time because they don’t like liars so I guess they would never lie to anyone…

Alan Wojcik: On the decade of Smackdown special (October 2, 2009) you debuted on Smackdown as Vickie Guerrero’s new boyfriend. Talk about the day you were told and what was it like working with Vickie?

Eric Perez: I was the last person to find out, I think at one point even John Cena knew about it and was asking me if I had done my thing. It was nerve racking but I think it went well. It was great working with her. She is a classy lady with a world of knowledge.

Alan Wojcik: Over your time in WWE you had done numerous dark matches. Is the dark match talent treated different than someone who is part of the three roster brands?

Eric Perez: It’s a mixed bag that one…Sometimes it is; sometimes its not. It all depends on who’s working the dark match, how much interest they have in the person etc. Sometimes it sucks because they want you to show what you can do in 3 minutes…Not possible.

Alan Wojcik: While appearing on TV were you working house shows and if so who did you travel with on the road? What is the road experience like?

Eric Perez: I had a lot of traveling partners Mike Knox, Tyler Reks, Yoshi Tatsu, Ezekiel, Carlito, Primo, Kizarny, Vance Archer, etc. it was a great experience cant complain sleeping in good and sometimes not so good hotels, driving 300 miles.

Alan Wojcik: Over October and November you appeared on Smackdown and Superstars eventually “dumping” Vickie on the November 27th Smackdown following a loss to John Morrison. Was the plan to have Vickie get revenge over several weeks?

Eric Perez: I don’t think they even know what the plan was to be honest. I was on a need to know basis.

Alan Wojcik: You were defeated by Kane on the December 18th Smackdown as a Christmas gift from Vickie. What were you told by creative was next before you got the call or email you were released? Who handles the release from the WWE office?

Eric Perez: I was actually told the same week at the Smackdown tapping they were looking for something to put me back on TV. That happened on a Tuesday and got released on Sunday by John Laurinaitis. I guess that’s the storyline I’m working now, I don’t know.

Alan Wojcik: As we do this interview you are working for WWC in Puerto Rico. What is the next step for Eric Perez? Is it working exclusively in Puerto Rico or after the 90 day clause expires can we expect to see you in TNA or Ring of Honor?

Eric Perez: I’m just taking things 1 day at the time, there are some offers in the horizon I just have to sit down and think about the pros and cons of my actions but you never know. When others said I couldn’t do it I did it so we will see.
